Sasuke couldn't contain his excitement as he glanced at his bag. Finally, he was escaping the usual routine of staying in or going to bars and heading out to the beach.
Something normal for once.
He checked himself out in the mirror, wearing a black tank top and navy blue trunks. Suddenly, thoughts of the pink-haired cashier popped into his mind for the fifth time today. It hadn't even been 24 hours, and his mind was still lingering on last night.
Surprisingly, he managed to stay pretty coherant throughout the night and ended up driving his friends back in Naruto's car. Naruto crashed on the couch before waking up in the morning to freshen up.
Even though they were surrounded by different women at the bar last night, he couldn't get her out of his mind.
He recalled the girl's name... Sakura, was it? She had mentioned surfing, and now that they were going to the beach, it reminded him of her.
His friends decided to drive separately, so Sasuke hopped into his car and started the 30-minute drive to the beach. Considering how big Konoha was, it made sense that the beach was a bit far from his place.
...
The heat was starting to get to them, and his friends lounged lazily on the sand, soaking up the sun. Suigetsu, being a water enthusiast, was happily splashing around in the waves. Kiba, on the other hand, had found a group of people with their dogs, and Naruto was busy constructing a sandcastle. Meanwhile, Sasuke's stomach growled as he devoured his food, not caring if his friends were hungry or not.
Sitting on a beach chair near Naruto, Sasuke turned to him and remarked, "I've never seen you so dedicated to building a sandcastle."
Naruto playfully tossed sand at Sasuke's feet and retorted, "Hey, at least I have hobbies."
Sasuke made a face and rolled his eyes. "Well, not everyone is like you, Naruto. And hobbies? You mean building sandcastles? You hardly ever come to the beach. It's surprising that you were the one who suggested this. I would've thought it'd be Suigetsu, out of all of you."
Naruto squinted his eyes as he processed Sasuke's words, "Hey Teme, where did you get that? Share some with me!"
Why was Naruto always like this?
"Seriously Naruto? Go get your own," Sasuke replied, moving away from him.
Naruto sat on the adjacent beach chair and reached for the brown paper bag, "Why do you need two burgers? Just give me the fries."
Rolling his eyes, Sasuke waved his hand dismissively, "Fine, but only the fries."
Naruto sighed as he stuffed his face, "This is great. I could definitely get used to coming to the beach every day. I wouldn't mind the 30-minute drive here."
While Naruto continued to ramble, Sasuke scanned the beach with his eyes. Suddenly, his gaze widened as he spotted a familiar head of pink hair.
He had never seen anyone with pink hair before, so it had to be her, right?
The girl with pink hair was undressing from her wetsuit, just about 30 feet away. Her long hair was disheveled, and underneath her wetsuit, she wore a mint green bikini.
Sasuke noticed the strap connected to her surfboard wrapped around her ankle, and from what he could see, it had a cherry blossom design.
"Hello? Earth to Sasuke? Are you even listening to me?" Naruto waved his hand in front of Sasuke's face, snapping him out of his trance.
