Sakura paced nervously in her apartment, her mind racing with doubts. Sasuke was due to pick her up any minute, but she couldn't shake the feeling that she might have made a mistake. One thing Sakura couldn't stand was heights.
Despite her motto of "facing fears and seeking happiness" daily, rollercoasters and heights were a different story.
She glanced at her phone, contemplating if it was too late to cancel.
"It's too late now! He'll be here soon, and you can't bail last minute," her inner voice chided.
Shaking off her nerves, Sakura checked her reflection in the mirror. Dressed in black running shorts and a workout halter top, she looked ready for a workout, even though the summer heat in Konoha begged for lighter clothing.
As she thought about the stress of her internship and the comfort of Sasuke's company, she couldn't help but wonder if maybe she felt something more for him afterall.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the buzzing of her phone in her hand.
iMessage
(Sasuke: Hey, I'm parked out front. You ready?)
(Sakura: Yeah heading down! I just have to grab a water bottle)
(Sasuke: I'm pretty sure they don't let you bring outside drinks. They might ask for you to throw it out at security.)
(Sakura: 😩 are you fr)
(Sasuke: Yeah I'm for real. I'll buy you water when we're there.)
Well... it was definitely too late to change her mind now. Sakura quickly checked herself out one last time before grabbing her crossbody bag. She spotted Sasuke leaning against his car, wearing khaki shorts and a navy blue shirt. The contrast between their outfits was impossible to ignore, and she couldn't help but feel a bit self-conscious.
Their different social statuses were clearly on display, and it surprised her that clothing could make such a difference.
"Hey," Sasuke greeted her in a low voice, but with an unexpected hint of excitement.
She had never admitted it before, but she secretly enjoyed the sound of his voice.
Sakura nervously bit her lip as she adjusted her running shorts. "Hey."
Sasuke motioned for Sakura to join him in the car, asking, "All set to go?"
Sakura nodded, feeling a mix of excitement and nerves as she stepped into the vehicle. She couldn't shake off the anxious feeling building up inside her. What was causing her to feel this way? Perhaps the impending roller coaster rides were to blame, or maybe...
It was her growing feelings for Sasuke.
During the drive to the amusement park, Sakura couldn't help stealing glances at Sasuke out of the corner of her eye before focusing on the road ahead. Although the journey was short, the reality of the situation began to set in. The sight of the towering roller coasters ahead made her gulp nervously.
Noticing Sakura's unease, Sasuke glanced at her and asked with a chuckle, "You doing okay?"
Sakura met his gaze and replied, "I'm fine, why do you ask?"
