Chapter 4 Brains vs. Brawn

After leaving the fire gym me and Hop were going over to the wild area only to be stopped by Kabu, Milo, and Nessa due to the challenge being hard thanks to Kabu they agreed to bid the challengers farewell if they win as a result. Me and Hop bid them adieu as we went to the Wild Area.

In the wild area Hop was probably going to catch more Pokemon but was interrupted by Bede claiming that we were both pathetic. Hop wanted to challenge Bede to shut him up even if I offered to battle him. Watching the battle Bede was performing well. Comparing Bede to Hop was like comparing me with Pond to me as a gym leader pre 4th gym. During this battle when Bede sent out Gothita, Hop's Corvisquire and Wooloo were murdered in cold blood and not in the way I bring up killing Pokemon, I meant they were literally dead. His Raboot was all he had left and even then it barely survived after being defeated by Hatenna.

Bede left all smug then I offered to battle him to which he arrogantly replied "I don't need to prove myself to you, I bet you are as pathetic as the champion's brother." While he probably expected me to be angry as he walked away I was honestly too busy being sympathetic for Hop. This is the first time I saw him in tears. I did not want to bother him so I moved on.

In the wild area with 3 tickets to catch anything I want. There was a Ralts that I caught who reminded me of an old friend from Hoenn who I named him after. An Elgyem and a Natu with the names Visitor and Toriningen were part of my team. While training my Ralts became a Kirlia and then we were off. Hop buried his Corvisquire and his Wooloo while in tears and just ran off.

When seeing Rose with Bede and that one woman he discussed his electricity slideshow to bring up how it's produced. The woman then tells Bede to come with her for something. Rose then has me come in to help with his slideshow. He must be doing this since he thinks I am smart. After the slideshow the woman tells Rose to get back to work. What a slave driver. Heading towards Route 5 Leon stops me and mentions how Raihan has some history he wants to show me. He also asks about Hop as he seemed different. He mentions how two of his Pokemon were killed by a certain psychic. To which I gave an explanation on what happened. Leon proceeds to bring up how he will not take anyone bullying his little brother and if he sees me as the culprit that I would be dead where I stood. To which I replied "No it wasn't me it was a different psychic." He wanted to continue but he had to attend a meeting and Oleana will complain that he wasn't there on time. I proceed to ask "Who's Oleana?" He mentions that she is Rose's assistant. Now I finally know about her.

Team Yell was having a Silicobra sleep which they tried to have us not interrupt. Hop came over and they were blocking Hop for being too loud. To which Hop punched one of them in the face as the other one left as I promised to not disrupt anything.

As we made our way through the mountain we stumbled across many trainers plowing our way through them in order to get stronger. When we made it to the city we continued our training.

Hop was in front of us wanting to battle us. He was still angry maybe bloodthirsty but besides that I accepted as usual

Hop starts off with his Cramorant to which I sent out Chun-Li. Chucking rocks at the bird and Cramorant was defeated. Hop then proceeds to send out Silicobra who had some paralysis and headbutts to deal with Chun-Li but we persevered after slowing it down many times. Hop was down two which was not what I expected but I respected it so he sends out Toxel who gets buried in the ground. Hop then sends out Raboot who stood a better chance than I expected despite getting two shot by the constant bulldozing. After the victory Hop walks up to me and says "Good luck" in a colder than usual voice.

Chun-Li evolved into Claydol and as I was training Marisa evolved into Hattrem which means that we now have even better coverage against the dark and bugs so if need be we can use more strategies.

Speaking of, we made it to the top. We finally reached the next gym. It seems judging by the huge knuckle emblem that this is meant to be a fighting gym. Luckily with my brain I can figure out strategies to overcome the muscle but this may have to do with using up energy which I can get tired easily. Before entering the gym with confidence, Ball Guy comes over to me and makes sure to say "Don't forget to bring a Pokeball." He hands me a heavy ball and says "Heavy balls are perfect for catching Pokemon with a lot of weight so if you need to break one's ankles you can this even has a guarantee for dynamaxed Pokemon." I respond with an awkward thanks. After some silence he asks "Wanna get high?"

Inside the gym challenge I had to sit in a car only to get punched multiple times. This feels like an amusement park ride. A fun gym challenge I must say and it feels like we should have something like this without the gym context which would be fun to experience for myself. Battling through trainers my intelligence was too much for these brutes to handle. Sure, you may have all the strength in the world but when you lack the knowledge to use it properly a harsh fall may happen for you.

After clearing the challenge I went over to the stadium and met a girl named Bea. She of course knows how to throw hands as why else would she use fighting types? Luckily though I have tons of strategies to help remedy my lack of muscle.

Bea starts out by sending Hitmontop where I lead Chun-Li. You may expect me to start with slowing it down but nope I had to make sure to use my psychic abilities to defeat it. Bea proceeds to bring Pangoro to where I bring Jessie who counters the night slash with heavy damage. Most likely ready to lose, she sends Sirfetch'd with me bringing Chun-Li again. Chun-Li gets blocked a few times only for Chun-Li to find a weak point blasting Sirfetch'd into oblivion. She brings Machamp with me dynamaxing and her gigantamaxing. Machamp pummels Chun-Li only for Chun-Li to deal mind blasts at the brute. Last hit that could lead to Chun-Li's demise they deal one last mind storm. Which was successful as Bea gives me her fighting badge. I walked off happy.

As a reward for victory I was given the ability to teach detect. A possible method for helping with my enemies but most likely not the greatest choice unless I'm healing. Anywho, it is time for me to move on.
