I dig my fork into the cake before eating another bite in agreement, I thought mom was playing about wanting a big cake but she meant it. Thankfully so GG can read minds and knows what she's like when pregnant, she had a red velvet cake delivered to our house with the number thirty seven on it. Mom loved it. So anyway now my sisters, her and I are just in the kitchen eating it.
"Are there cakes like this at the charity ball?", Neveah asks
"No see we get these really cute fancy cupcakes, they're literally so good and that's why there's never any leftovers but this time imma make sure ya'll get some" Mom explains whilst showing us the cake size with her hands
"Do I have to come to that?", Trinity asks with disinterest
She shrugs, "I mean you don't have to but it'd be nice if you did. I was thinking afterwards we'd go out and get something to eat with the Campbells"
"Aunt Latoya too?", I mutter
"Ohhhh yeah we can't go if she's going, I don't like how she spoke to Ree" Neveah remembers
"Exactly, sorry mama it's a no. Let's get food with grandma and aunt Ivy instead" Trinity suggests

"Hold on what'd I miss?", She frowns
"It's nothing", I reply
"It's not nothing, don't feel guilty just cause she's your boyfriends mother", My eleven year old sister lectures
"Oi she's your aunt, lower the sass" Ma then turns back to me
"MK tell me, what'd she say to you?"
"She was just basically saying that Indi's seizure was my fault and that if I wasn't distracting Xavier then he could've stopped it. Then when I was tryna talk she was getting rude and telling me not to talk back"
"She what?", Mom frowns with disapproval
"Exactly" Veah replies whilst sipping on her can of coke
"Baby why didn't you tell me?"
I shrug, "I told daddy so I just assumed that he'd tell you, he said he'd talk to her"
She kisses her teeth, "Don't mind her, but well done for staying composed because I know it's not easy. You're not a distraction and what happened with Indi was not your fault at all" My mother assures me
"Thanks"
"No but honestly shes gotta concentrate on her relationship with the kids cause at the moment it's not looking so good, they're not all copy and pastes of Zion which is what she has to accept"
"Malik's a big meanie but inside he's just a soft teddy bear" Neveah replies as she licks cake off her spoon
"No he's not", I disagree
"Yeah he is", The twins reply
"Hes always been an ass hole"
"That's just how he shows his love" Mom says amused
I look at her unconvinced
"No really, he's mean to you and Indi but that's just big brothers for you. That's how you know he'll take a bullet for you"
As we're talking the front door opens and at first all we see are two big bouquets of roses, behind them are my dad and uncle Cole.
"Awww, aren't ya'll just the cutest" Mama gushes
