She was acting very weird....
The four of us were in the dining room, there was a lot of breakfast on the table and considering that it's just us, I think shes been stress cooking. But not only that she was cutting through her food quite roughly and chewing normally as if she wasn't just trying to murder her plate.
Indiah's sat there with narrowed eyes, I'll be so real I haven't even touched my food yet. Xavier's just looking at her as if shes gone mad.
"Ma...."
She drinks from her glass of orange juice before continuing to eat.
"Aunt Toya are you ok?", I finally ask
She wipes her hand on a napkin whilst chewing, "I'm fine"
"You're killing your waffles and bacon", Indiah says after a moment
She won't even look at any of us
"Why you acting weird", Xavier asks his mother
She simply drinks from her glass again before continuing to cut through her food, "Ma" They both say annoyed
"What?"
"What's going on", Indiah scoffs
She picks up her phone with annoyance, in attempt to turn it off but then a voicemail starts playing.
"Toya how the hell you gon walk away from your son-
Aunt Latoya switches off her phone and they sit up
"What's daddy talking about", Indiah demands
"Nothing-
"Stop lying cause I'll call him right now", Xavier says annoyed
Even I wanna know
"Malik got his sentence", She finally says
We all scoff, "What?"
"The hell? And you weren't gonna tell us-
"Language"
"How long", Indiah questions
"Seven months, and a five thousand dollar fine"
They're both really pissed off now
"I thought it was just a firearm charge...."
"A drug charge. But this is the best deal that he's gonna get"
"How could you not tell us?-
"Your dad was going to tell you-
"I wanna see him", He interrupts
"You can't. At least not right now" She replies calmly
"Why not-
"Zay she's right, he needs to go through processing", I tell him softly
"So our brothers going to prison and we can't even see him. You didn't even think to call us the second it happened", Indiah scoffs
"Cause she was too busy feeling disappointed in him", Xavier says knowingly
"Excuse me?"
"That's why pops left you that voicemail. We should've been at the trial instead of you"
"I understand that ya'll are upset but you can talk to Malik soon. Just not today"
Xavier lightly kisses his teeth as he gets up and leaves the table, I sigh as I look back. "I'll go talk to him"
As I leave Indiah continues to bicker with her mom, Xavier actually left the house so that's where I'm headed right now. I shield my eyes from the sun as I walk down the steps, "Zay"
