"You know, you're really cute."
That night, we all had a mini party. Dally didn't get arrested and still got to beat up the guy.
Anyways, Mr. And Mrs. Curtis went out tonight. They deserved the night out and I'm happy they can enjoy it.
So we decided to have the night in.
Unlike most people in the gang, I never got drunk. I don't think joy in life comes from a drink. Although tonight, I let the gang convince me to try drinking. Usually I don't let them convince me, but I'm just tired and need a break from life.
After a while I got really giggly. Everything was funny.
"Elle, maybe you should go to bed soon." Soda said.
"I'm fine." I giggled, booping his nose. I then started laughing.
"Well at least now we know what type of person she is when she's drunk." Two-bit laughed.
Soda's POV:
Elle had a lot to drink tonight. With anybody else, it wouldn't worry me, but she said she would never try to drink. She gave up to the constant bothers of the gang very easily tonight. She didn't even put up a fight. Something in me thinks she wanted to drink tonight, not just for the gang.
I obviously don't want to bring it up with her in case I'm wrong. She'd be pretty upset. I'm just going to make sure this doesn't happen again.
Elle seemed a little more clingy than usual. She was scooting closer and closer to me.
After about an hour, everybody either passed out, had fallen asleep, or left.
Elle was awake, but completely zoned out. She looked really tired, like she was fighting to stay awake.
"Come on Elle, let's get ya to bed." I said.
She nodded, just staring at me. "You know, you're really cute."
I chuckled. "Thanks Elle."
"Any girl would be lucky to have you." She said tiredly.
"I wish I was your girlfriend." It's nice to know that she truly likes me, even though she's drunk right now and can't remember we're already dating. Of course I knew that she liked me, but ever since Sandy, I was scared to be too trusting.
Elle yawned and closed her eyes. I knew I wouldn't be able to get her up, so I put a blanket over her.
"Good night." I kissed her forehead. She looked so peaceful. I haven't seen her look that peaceful in a long time.
Oh my god, she's going to have such a bad headache tomorrow, she has no idea.
I laid down on the floor next to the couch so I wouldn't wake up Ponyboy. I fell asleep really quickly after that.
Elle's POV:
I woke up with the worst headache I've ever gotten. I shouldn't have drank so much last night. I sat up, holding my head in my hands.
"God, it fucking hurts." I muttered to myself.
I heard the fridge close so I looked out into the kitchen. I saw Two-bit coming into the room.
"Here." He said, handing me a glass of water. "You must have the headache of your life."
"Thanks Two." I smiled.
"No problem."
I saw Sodapop passed out in the floor. He must be tired because I don't recall him drinking, although I don't have much memory of last night. I know he wouldn't drink though.
So he's just tired.
I don't even know when I fell asleep last night. I don't know how this blanket got on me. I don't remember anything.
"Why am I so stupid?" I asked myself. I laid back down.
After a while, Sodapop woke up. "You alright?" He asked me.
"Yeah." I said, "I have a bad headache though."
"That's not what I'm talking about."
"Then what are you talking about?"
There was a long pause.
"Elle, this isn't you." He said. I could tell it was hard for him to say.
I stayed silent.
"Just tell me what's going on, there's something I don't know about. It's eating away at you." Soda said. "Please."
"I..." I couldn't find the right way to say this. There really isn't a right way to tell someone you're thinking hard about dropping out, even if they are a high school dropout theirself.
"I think I might just possibly drop out..." I mumbled, looking down.
Soda didn't respond, and that made me nervous. He sighed.
"I'm going to tell ya, it's not a good idea. But I don't see why I should try to convince you otherwise. We've had this conversation before, but if you are really sure, I won't stop you."
"I'm sorry." I muttered.
"Don't be sorry." Soda said.
"I feel like I'm doing something wrong, no matter what. If I stay, I'm just going to fail. If I drop out, I'll be seen as a failure my whole life." I said.
"Do what makes you happy. Don't worry about anything else." Soda said.
"Alright..." I paused. "I don't know what I want to do yet. I don't know what will make me happy." I told him.
"Then wait to make a decision until you do."
I nodded.

A/N sorry for not posting since April 9th, but I kinda got out of my Outsiders Era...luckily, I can't start anything without finishing it, so even if it takes a little bit, I promise I will get this book done! I am really proud of this book and I am happy people love it. I won't give up, not after the countless hours I've spent.
