"We haven't gotten to that part yet."

"Why'd you knock on your own door?" I asked. I didn't even say hello or comment on how good he looked or anything, that's the first thing I said. Then I covered my mouth as soon as I realized I said it. He just laughed.

"Why, hello to you too." He chuckled.

He didn't look too formal, so I was slightly assured. He was wearing a nice dress shirt and dress pants, and some nice shoes. Nothing too extravagant.

"Something about you just looks so..." He paused, probably to find the rights words. I do that a lot. "So different." I waited for him to continue.

"You look happy, and it's genuine. Like when we were kids." He said.

"You look great." I was nowhere near topping the stuff he said. I'm really bad at this.

"Sorry, this whole date thing is new to me." I giggled.

"Eh, don't worry 'bout it. Let's go grab a bite to eat, shall we?" He held out his arm for me. I blushed.

"We shall." I giggled, taking it and walking close to him. He was borrowing Two-bit's crappy old car, but it meant a lot to me that Two helped Soda with this.

We were silent for a lot of the ride, but it was a comfortable silence. I just feel like a date should be filled with more talking, so I decided to start some conversation.

"Ya'know what's weird?" I asked.

"What?" He asked.

"I thought first dates were all about getting to know the other person." I said.

"In my experience, they are. The thing is, we know all what there is to know about each other." Soda said.

"I'm sure there's stuff I don't know 'bout ya." I said.

"We've lived with each other for years." He responded.

"I bet there's stuff you don't know about me." I said.

"Like what?" He asked, looking at me with a questioning look on his face.

"Uh, I don't know." I laughed. "Maybe we do know everything there is to know about each other."

"Damn, guess we gotta improvise." He said.

"What are we gonna do? Treat this like a second date? Kiss every two seconds? Do something romantic?" I asked.

"How 'bout we just talk, kinda like usual. Just enjoy each other's company, tell fun stories." Soda said.

"You're good at this. How many girls have you had weird first dates with?" I joked.

"You're my first." He laughed.

We enjoyed the rest of this car ride in silence. I did my best to ignore the sound of the engine. It still reminded me of my mom. I can't just avoid it forever though.

I leaned my head on his shoulder, just waiting to see where we were eating. Luckily, it was the Dingo. I wouldn't want to go anywhere classy anyway.

We sat down, talking. Taking how we always did. About random stuff. We ordered our food, then told stories.

"So that's how I got the scar on my wrist." I said.

"Wait wait wait. So you climbed the tree to prove to Johnny and Pony you could do it, then ya fell out, scratched your wrist in a branch, then landed on Ponyboy?" He asked laughing. I laughed.

"Yes, did he seriously never tell you? He collapsed underneath me and I told him thanks for breaking my fall. Then he said 'thanks for breaking my back' and I said you're welcome." I laughed.

"My god, you do the weirdest crap." He said.

"I know right?" I said, drinking my Pepsi that I got from the waitress earlier.

"Look, I'm drinking you." I said, chuckling.

"We haven't gotten to that part yet." He said under his breath, smirking. I choked on my Pepsi.

"Sodapop Patrick Curtis!" I shouted, going into a fit of laughter and coughs. He laughed even more. I slapped his arm.

"That's nasty" I said.

"I know." He smiled innocently.

"Oh, don't act all innocent on me now, Patrick." I said. He laughed as I hit him on his arm again.

"You are so immature." I playfully rolled my eyes.

"Oh come on, say something ridiculous, ya'know ya wanna." He said.

"I mean, I've made some dumb pickup lines." He raised his eyebrows. "But I'm not telling any of them to ya."

"Oh come on, tell me. Just one, please?" He asked. I took a second to get into character.

"Are you peanut butte because I want you spread." I said in a manly, tough voice with a slight accent. Soda burst out laughing, causing me to laugh in return.

"You have issues." He chuckled.

"I know, so do you."

We finished our food, laughing and talking about stupid things. I thought we would be going home, but instead, Soda said there was somewhere else he wanted to go.

We drove for about ten minutes. We're we're on the outskirts of town. It was dark, there was nobody around, and you could see all the stars. There were so many.

"I've never seen that many stars in my life." I said. "It's beautiful."

"It's one of my favorite places." He said. Suddenly, him taking me here meant to much more. He took me to one of his special places. He must think I'm special if he wanted to share it with me.

"It's so beautiful. Thanks for taking me here, really." I said.

"I'm glad you like it." He said.

We looked at the stars together for a while. I rested my head on his shoulder. My eyes were growing heavy, but I was desperate to stay awake. Soon I fell asleep with my head on Soda's shoulder and his arm wrapped around my shoulders.

The last thing I saw before I fell asleep was Soda's smile. His movie star smile. I think this was the moment I knew I'd love him evermore.

Evermore...
