"I don't think she needs any sugar."

"I want ice cream." I said for the millionth time today. For some reason I just really want ice cream.

"We know." Steve rolled his eyes at me.

"What, does me asking for ice cream annoy you?" I joked.

"Yes, because you've asked like forty thousand times." He said, annoyed.

"Stevie, I'm proud of you, I didn't know you could count that high." I said, putting a shocked look on my face. Two-bit laughed.

"Well anyways." Soda chuckled. "I heard about this new ice cream place, wanna go check it out?" Soda asked.

"Duh." I said, smiling widely. Everyone agreed, so we decided to go check out the place.

"Ice cream!" I screamed like a little kid, running ahead of the gang. "Come on guys, we have to get ice cream!" I was practically running circles around them.

"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!" I sang.

"Okay Elle." Steve nodded.

"I don't think she needs any sugar." Two-bit joked.

"Shut up!" I yelled.

We finally made it to the place and I ran in before anybody else in the gang. My jaw dropped at all the different ice cream flavors behind the glass. All the options, combos, toppings, I was just in shock. I didn't know that there were this many flavors and toppings for ice cream.

"Damn." I mumbled. I think the gang had the same reaction. We all just looked at the place in awe.

"Well, let's get some ice cream." I said. They all nodded.

This was like a dine in sort of place. There were chairs and booths to sit in. It had a Retro feel to it.

It was in the middle class part of Tulsa, so there were both Socs and Greaser here. Middle class people were here too. When I saw some groups of Socs, I took a deep shaky breath. I'm scared that I'll get jumped.

I got the chocolate lover's combo, which is triple chocolate ice cream with chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and a cherry on top. I was the first one to order.

I looked over at a group of Socs who were eyeing me. They looked at me with smirks on their faces, which sent shivers down my spine.

Johnny put his hand on my shoulder which snapped me out of it with a jolt. "You alright?"

"Uh yeah, all fine." I said, doing my best to ignore the Socs.

We all sat down in a booth in the corner. I had the spot furthest in the corner, having the perfect view out the window.

"I'm going to use the bathroom, I'll be back guys." I said, getting up. I just needed to clear my head.

The Socs wouldn't do anything, not here in a random ice cream shop. Right? They wouldn't. Hopefully...

I turned on the sink and began washing my face in cold water. I need to snap out of this. I've been pretty lucky when it comes to Socs. I should be fine.

I shook my hands out in the sink and began drying them on my shirt. I went to leave the bathroom, but I just bumped into a tall Soc.

"Where do ya think you're going?" He asked.

"You're not-you're not supposed to be in here." I braved to say.

"I don't wanna hear where I'm supposed to be from a little Greaser girl like you." He said. As someone who is 5'3, the height difference between the rest of the gang and I is large. This guy had to be the same height as Darry.

"Just leave me alone, please." I mumbled. I wanted to leave, but he was blocking the only exit.

He chuckled, "I think I have a better idea."

I did the first thing that came to mind. It was what I was taught to do if I was in trouble, and that was to scream as loudly as I could. So I shrieked loudly, running into a stall, hoping that would by me some time to get rescued.

The guy tried to get in, but the door was strong. He was a large guy, so he probably wouldn't be able to fit under the stall door.

He gave the stall door one strong kick and it flung open, hitting me in the process. He dragged me out of it and threw me against a wall, causing me to get a little dizzy.

I refocused myself. I got up, but he pushed me down again. Adrenaline was pumping through my body, but it seems like no matter what I did, he was stronger.

The door opened and some people who were staff came in. One of the girls ran, probably to call the cops or something. The guy, he was probably middle class, in his twenties, and just a little smaller than the Soc was able to pin him down. The last girl, probably around my age, maybe a little older, helped me up. I wanted to cry.

"You alright, hun?" She asked me.

I knew my eyes were wide and I my breath was shaky. My body felt weak.

"I-um, yeah, I think-I think so." My voice sounded unfamiliar. She guided me out of the bathroom. Soda was just walking up to check it out when he saw me.

I ran over to him and hugged him. I was shaking. He hugged me tight, rubbing my back, telling me it was going to be all right.

He took me back over to the gang.

Dally got up as soon as he saw me. He was walking over to the bathrooms where the guy was. None of us bothered to stop him. We all knew he was about to beat the hell out of that guy. There's no stopping him when he has his mind set on something.

"We should go." Steve said, "Dally'll be fine on his own."

"Yeah...he's probably going to get himself arrested anyway." Two-bit said.

We all left money on the table before we left. Soda kept me close and I didn't let go of him. I just didn't want Dally to get in trouble. That Soc isn't worth getting put in jail.

I was physically and emotionally exhausted. The adrenaline from the incident was wearing off. Soda got in front of me and let me get on his back. He carried me the rest of the way home and I gladly let him.

Soon, the silence over the gang wore off and everyone was back to talking and goofing off again. They knew I was okay, they knew Dally would be fine even if he got arrested again. Everything was fine. It was all just a scare.

I hate scares like that.
