Chapter 29

“Oh my God. I told that lady on the phone this morning that you couldn't show up at my house. If she drives by and see's your car's she gonna know I talked to you. Please go away and call me and I will meet you somewhere. Shit.” Tessa then tried to slam the door shut but Donner caught it with his foot and asked, “Who are you afraid of Tessa. We can help you.” Tessa started to cry and said, “Please, please, please just go before she drives by. Just call me.” Donner pulled his foot out of the door and let her close it. He turned to Brad and said, “Let's go and drive around and be on the lookout for a black VW bug with pink strips and a pink bra.” As they walked back to their car's Brad said, “Pink bra, huh. That sure is gonna stand out.” They both chuckled, got in their car's and left.

Tessa was freaking out, “Oh my God, what if she's out there watching and just seen that?” Kalista tried to calm her down, “Why would she be watching your house? Come on Tessa, just calm down. They'll call and we'll talk to them and then everything will be okay.” Tessa fell down in a chair and put her face in her hands and sobbed, “I don't know if I want to talk to them now. My God Kalista, she could burn my house down.” Kalista walked over and bent down in front of Tessa and grabbed a hold of Tessa hands, “Look at me. You can't go back now. If she was out there watching then you need to talk to them even more just in case she does try to do something like that.” On the coffee table Tessa phone started ringing, both girls set there and stared at it for a few seconds. Kalista grabbed it and looked at the caller ID. It was a private number, she knew it wasn't Heather so she hit the answer button.

“Hello.” “Tessa?” “No, this is her friend Kalista. Just tell us where you want to meet and we'll be there. It can't be anywhere public though,” Kalista waited for an answer. Donner tried to think of a place that was non-public then said, “I am going to have a friend come pick you up. Her name is Andrea. She'll be in a silver SUV. She will probably be there in about 30 minutes.” Kalista replied, “She's not a cop in uniform is she?” Donner reassured her that she wasn't and then Kalista said that they would be watching and ready when she came. Donner hung up his phone as he pulled in Andrea's driveway. He got out of the car and made his way to the house and knocked on the door. He knew he was staying here but he thought it would be rude to just walk into a house that technically he did not live at. Andrea opened the door and laughed, “What are doing knocking, you do live here now?” Donner grinned and said, I know but where just staying for a while and I didn't want to be rude.” Andrea smiled and said, Okay, that was very polite of you but you don't have to knock anymore .” Donner smiled back and nodded.

Donner sighed and said, “I have a favor to ask of you and you don't have to do it if you don't want but I would really appreciate it if you would.” Andrea said, “Okay, what is it you want me to do?” Donner then explained the situation and waited for her response. Andrea thought for a minute then said, “So I just pick the girls up, tell them to lay down in the back seat, drive here, pull in my garage and that's it?” Donner nodded his head. Andrea smiled and said, “Okay.” Donner smiled back and said, “I owe you big time and I do pay my debts. By the way, Brad will be watching you and the house out of sight. He will then follow you home.” Andrea nodded and grabbed her purse off the hook by the garage door. They both walked inside the garage and Donner watched her pull out.

He walked back inside the house and found Lyric hunched over looking inside the fridge. “Morning Lyric.” Lyric stood up and replied, “Morning. Where mom going?” “She's running an errand for me. She'll be back in a few minutes though.” Lyric popped the top off her can and said, “Oh. Is Ethan still downstairs?” Donner shrugged his shoulder's and said, “He should be. I told him not to go anywhere today,” He then opened the door leading downstairs and hollered, “Ethan, you down there?” He waited a few seconds. Ethan came to the bottom of the stairs and said, “Yeah, you told me not to go anywhere.” Donner smiled and said, “I know but Lyric just wanted to know if you were up yet.” Ethan walked up the stairs smiling from ear to ear. Donner knew that smile, it was a smile that said, oh yeah the girl that I like just asked about me. Donner chuckled as Ethan walked into the kitchen.
