THOMAS HANDED ME A PLASTIC wrapped sandwich. I took the sand which from his grasp, not saying a word. It was quiet between the two of us. The sound of gladers working played in the background as I tried to process everything that happened earlier. Someone is communicating with me through some sort of telepathy-mechanism. Yeah, that sounds like crazy talk. How can that even be possible?

The two of us sat far away from the others, eating our food while sitting down on the grass near the forest.

I criss-crossed my legs, eating peacefully. My head no longer hurt and I gained my strength back after fifteen minutes, more or less. I was just glad to have been back to normal. Well, the closest to normal that I will ever get to.

"Feeling better?" Thomas asked, crumbling his wrapper. He leaned his right arm on top of his knee that was bent closely near his chest. I smiled. "Much better."

And his facial expression changed significantly. From comforting to radiating concern. "What happened?" He asked.

"I-I don't know." I spoke honestly. It was hard to lie to Thomas. Since the moment we arrived in the box together I knew it would be hard to not let the boy in. "I was talking to Alby and Chuck one minute. And out of nowhere..." I swallowed a little bit of saliva, nervously. "I heard this voice." It was strange and for some reason I kept on feeling like i've heard it before.

Thomas tilted his head in confusion. "A voice?Talking to you?" He pointed at me. "In your head?"

I smacked his hand away, earning a faint glare from the boy. But his attention went back to the main topic. "It wasn't my voice that I heard, Thomas." I answered.

"What was it saying?" He dropped his hand, landing it on the grass with a small thump.

I fiddled with the grass, ripping it apart in my hands. Then throwing it back on the floor. And doing it all over again. It helped me calm my nerves, which were momentarily out of control. This could not have been good for my mental health.

Thinking back to what Thomas asked I took my time to carefully choose my words. They can't be too complicated and messy. Or else he won't have a clue about what i'm saying. And then I'll just sound crazy.

My voice grew quiet. "To find you." I finally said. I looked up to see Thomas listening carefully. "When I went looking for you, all of a sudden my head started pounding. And next thing I know it...I felt so weak..." I paused, staring at Zart gardening from a afar. He stopped to look at us and I knew that Cabbage patch was being nosy, while picking his vegetables.
