I walked through Med-Jack, curiously. Minho and Thomas walked behind Newt and I. I haven't said a word after the weird encounter with the strange brown haired girl.I took a sneak peek in one of the rooms. It happened to be where they put Alby. His legs and wrist were tied down to the wooden bed frame. He squirmed on top of the bed, trying to be set free.
Straight a head the strange girl laid on one of the beds, sleeping. Jeff stood near the bed as the four of us approached him.
"Jeff, what's going on?" Newt folded his arms in front of his. "What's the matter with her? Why won't she wake up?" He bombarded Jeff with questions.
"Hey man, I got my job the same way you did." Jeffs tone was relaxed as he spoke. He naturally had a chill personality.
I towered over the girl. She was lying in a fetus position. "Has she said anything else?" I asked, nicely.
Jeff shrugged his shoulders. "Not since the box."
I looked at the girl, closely. I recognized her. Her appearance triggered a deep feeling within my core. I just knew this wasn't the first time seeing her.
"Will do you recognize her?" Newt asked. As if he had read my mind.
Thomas spoke up first, breaking his intense starting at the girl. "No." He told Newt.
"Really? Because she seems to recognize you two? His eyes watched Thomas, for a moment longer. Then, they landed on mine.
My jaw clenched. His serious expression he held onto slightly fell. "Lilah?" Newt questioned.
Lie or say the truth?
Lie or say the truth?
I shook my head to the side. "No." I lied through my teeth.
Newt nodded his head at my response and moved on to something else, but I knew he wasn't satisfied with it.
"What about the note?" Thomas asked.
"We'll worry about the note, later." He looked down at the girl.
"I think you should worry about the note now." Thomas counterattacked. Although I couldn't tell if he was intentionally talking back or he had been unintentionally saying things with attitude.
"Does it also mean the creators are going to stop sending supplies?" I interrupted, knowing Thomas and Newt could both be stubborn.
"No one said that.-"
"They're right, Newt. The box isn't coming back up. How long do you think we can last?" Jeff anxiously spoke.
"Let's not jump to any conclusions we just- We just wait until she wakes up and see what she knows." "Somebody gots to have some answer around here." He mumbled, loudly enough for use to hear.
"And if she doesn't?" I looked at Minho, Thomas, and Newt. "How many times did a boy come up into the maze and their memories were intact?"
"None." Jeff answered for them.
"She bloody knew your names. There a high chance she knows more than we think."
"Hopefully." I heard Jeff mumble across the bed.
"That's never happened before- We don't just randomly know names. That girl." Minho pointed to the brown haired girl. "She's the first."
I locked eyes with Thomas. I almost forgot no one knew about Thomas and I knowing each other's names.
"Ok." Thomas said as he casually walked away from us and the previous conversation.
Newt turned on his heel. "Where you going?" The blonde asked as Thomas got farther.
"Back into the maze." The brunette shouted in a calm manner. "Coming, Lilah?" He yelled.
"Thomas, you can't just-" I sighed. I knew there was nothing I could say to change his mind. So it's either he goes alone or not. "Wait for me you, idiot."
Minho jogged after Thomas and Jeff left to go do whatever it was that he did.
"Wow- wow." Newt grabbed my upper arm when I walked past him. "Where do you think you're going, green bean?"
"To help." I titled my head up, in order to meet his brown eyes. His head had slightly lowered as he looked down upon my figure.
"No." He refused.
"No?" I questioned. "What do you mean, no?"
"You can't go." Newt asserted, he carefully dropped my arm and it fell to my side. "No." He restated.
I licked my bottom lip, amused by Newts ways in stopping me from leaving. "And why not?"
"It's dangerous out there and I've only just gotten you back." Newt searched my eyes, looking deeply. He stepped closer, putting a small amount of distance between us.
"Newt, I'll be okay. I've been in the maze before- Now I know what to expect." I claimed and my eyes begged for the boy to reconsider.
"I can't take risk it." He whispered. "Things are changing-There's no telling what could happen."
"You worry too much." I told him. Bringing my right hand to Newts face, I gently creased his cheek. And curved my lips into a soft smile.
Newt tilted his head left and melted in my hand. His stiff body relaxed. By the look of his eyes I could tell he needed relaxation more than anyone.
"I'll be back. I promise." He looked at me and I looked at him. Suddenly Newt smiled.
"I know what you did."
Acting oblivious to what he was claiming, I knitted my brows and frowned. "I have no idea, what you are talking about."
"Don't die." He said.
"Don't plan on it." I responded, dropping my hand form his cheek. "Take a break while I'm gone. You're going to over work yourself."
"Don't worry about me. I'll be fine- Worry about yourself."
I looked at Newt one last time before walking out of the Med-Jack building. In hopes that Thomas didn't leave me behind.
