An hour later, the avengers meet in the waiting room. They're all worried about Becca and Sofia and hoping they're okay. Yelena asks, "Have you heard anything?"
They hear the doors open, and they see Loki approaching. "There's Loki," Natasha replied.
As Loki walks towards them, Thor asks, "How is she?"
"She's okay," Loki replied. The team is relieved. "She has a concussion, broken ribs, and multiple contusions. But the doctor said she's going to be okay."
"That's good," Clint sighed.
"Have any of you heard anything from James?"
The team looks at him, curious. Sam replies, "No, why?"
Feeling that he needs to get some air, despite worrying about his wife, Bucky decides to go to the waiting room. Without realizing it and tuning the world out, he slowly walks into the room. He doesn't even see the team standing there talking to Loki. Bucky finds a window and stares at it. As Loki explains what he knows, Yelena sees Bucky and taps Natasha on the arm. She gestures with her eyes, and Natasha sees bucky. Natasha calls out, "Bucky."
Everyone turns around as they see Bucky not even moving. Natasha, Sam, and Loki walk toward him. Natasha touches his shoulder. "Buck...are you okay?" Bucky slowly turns towards them, and when he does, they all see that he is distraught. Natasha pulls Bucky toward a chair. "Bucky, sit. Tell us what happened?"
The team gets around him while also giving him space. As he stutters, Bucky can't even look at the team, "They wanted me to wait out here. But I couldn't leave her -"
"James, what happened?" Loki interrupted.
"You can tell us," Steve commented.
Bucky wipes the tears off his face. Everyone realized that something terrible had happened. Bucky answers, "Sofia wasn't fully dilated, but our son was under distress because of Sofia being tortured. So they said she had to do a c-section. During the procedure, they were able to save the twins. But...she was losing a lot of blood. Sofia had passed out on the table."
Natasha gasps, "Oh god! Is she okay?"
"I don't know. They told me to leave the room."
At that moment, they see Dr. Dalton standing there waiting for him. Bucky sees them and approaches her. The team silently watches. Nervously he asks, "Dr. Dalton?"
Dr. Dalton hesitates but answers calmly, "Sergeant Barnes, there is no easy way to say this but...there is good news and bad news." She pauses as she knows what she has to say isn't easy. Bucky is more nervous. "As soon as her heart rate went down, we had to do CPR and the defibrillator. But right now, we finished suturing up, so we're going to run some tests. Her blood loss and stress were the main reasons your son was in distress."
"She is going to be okay, isn't she?"
The doctor pauses once more as she swallows a lump in her throat and answers him. "She died on the table for a minute. But we were able to get her back." Bucky, and everyone's heart breaks. Bucky breaks down in tears. "When we did some of the tests showed that her brain and body are so severely stressed that we had to put her in a medically induced coma so she can recover."
"Is she going to wake up again?"
"It will take time for her to recover."
"How much time?"
"It's hard to say."
Bucky shouts, "How much time!"
The doctor pauses once more, then answers, "It could be weeks, maybe months."
