Chapter 19 - Coming Home

After a few hours of him calming down, Sam takes him back downstairs. Meanwhile, within those few hours, Dr. Strange uses his magic to examine Sofia another way. He looks for anything that can help Sofia heal more quickly. At the same time, most of the team (Clint, Natasha, Yelena, and Thor) are checking on Becca. Thor turns to everyone and asks, "So, have any of you talked to Bucky the last few hours? Or found out anything else about Sofia?"

Natasha replies, "Steve's been with him. He's been taking it really hard."

Becca added, "I knew telling him about what Sofia was trying to do was right, but I really wish I hadn't."

Loki turns to Becca and says to her, "Darling, he needed to know. We all did."

"I know, but Bucky doesn't do well with things like this. You all remember when Sofia got hurt during the battle against Thanos."

"I know," said Natasha.

"Isn't there anything we can do to help?" asks Thor. "I mean, Sofia, Little Steve, and Bucky are like family."

"I don't know," said Clint.

They all stand in silence. But then Natasha has an idea. She says, "There might be. But I've got to talk to Dr. Strange first. Excuse me." She quickly leaves.

They all look at her, confused about what just happened. "Wonder what she meant by that?" asked Thor.

As Natasha makes her way down the hall, she sees Bucky standing by Sofia's room but hesitates to go inside. As Bucky stands there, he is tormented by what he saw so severely that he decides to go somewhere else until he's ready. Natasha is saddened to see him so upset.

Steve finds Nat and approaches her. He sighs, "Buck thought about seeing her many times. But after he told me what Sofia did...this is all messed up."

"I know, but the important thing is they're alive, Sharon's going to jail, and that HYDRA is gone for good," Natasha agreed.

Steve nods in agreement. "So I heard you may have an idea of how you can help them. What did you have in mind?"

Natasha turns to Steve. "First, I need to know what Dr. Strange has found after looking at Sofia. Wanna join me?"

"Sure." They head to Sofia's room.

Dr. Strange completes his assessment of Sofia. Steve and Natasha enter the room. Natasha asks him, "How is she?"

Dr. Strange turned to face them and replied, "I can see why she used a protection spell on the twins. It was incredibly risky for her to do. But any mother would do whatever it takes to protect their children."

"Do you think the doctors were right?" asks Steve. "She'll recover."

Dr. Strange glances at her and then back at them. "Yes. I say that because when she was being tortured, her healing abilities were trying to heal her and the twins from any injuries they may have injured while inside the womb."

"And what about the twins?" asks Natasha. "Will they be okay?

"Yes, they'll be okay. Especially the son. He's a fighter like his mother."

They nod their heads. Natasha takes a step closer to Dr. Strange and asks, "Stephen, I wanted to ask if there was some way we could help them."

"What did you have in mind?" he asks.

Natasha pauses. "Well, since Bucky finds it difficult to be here and focus on his wife, their son, and the twins, I think it would be a lot better if they returned to the compound."

"Do you think it's possible?" Steve asks.

"I mean, we're their family, and I promised them I would always help them. And right now, they need us more than ever. That's why I am asking if there is any way we could bring Sofia back to the compound without causing any other damage."
