Weeks later...

Beacon training battle grounds...

Y/n: On your left!

Y/n chuckled a bit before ducking and spinning away before he got hit by Cardin's mace. Currently, they were in Professor Goodwitch's class, which was training for combat and aura levels. For this spar session, Goodwtich called on Y/n and Cardin, originally Jaune was going to go up against Cardin, but she decided to see where Y/n's level is as a guardian.

Cardin: Stop saying that!!

Cardin roared out in anger as he tried to slam his mace into Y/n's head. But again, Y/n dodged it, after rolling away, Y/n grabbed his ruler and activated its axe form. 

Y/n: Alright, lets go!

Y/n then ran towards Cardin, who began to raise his mace to swing it down on Y/n's head. As Y/n got closer, Cardin brought his mace down, but once again, Y/n dodged it by sliding through Cardin's legs.

Cardin: What the?!

As Y/n went through Cardin's legs, Y/n locked his axe on one of Cardin's legs. As he got up, Y/n pulled his axe up, taking Cardin's legs with it and causing him to slam into the ground.

In the crowd, multiple students watched in amazement at the skill of both students. Y/n was fast and tactical, using hit and run tactics despite using an axe. Cardin on the other hand, was much slower. but obviously the stronger fighter. Everyone knew that if Cardin managed to get even one hit on Y/n, Y/n's aura level would go critical quickly.

Ruby: Wow! Who knew you can do that with an axe!

Weiss: Right? Y/n obviously knows what he's doing...but when has he trained with the axe? I've never seen him.

Ruby: After I finished up Crescent Rose v2, him and I began to practice with these weapons.

Weiss: Ah...you never told us that you finished your new weapon.

Ruby: Well...I kinda wanted to surprise you guys after this class. But I guess the surprise is out.

Y/n pov

I put my axe in front of me to block an attack from Cardin's. Even with the block, I felt the massive amount of force that Cardin put into the attack. 

Y/n: *Thought* Holy crap...Cardin's not messing around.

Without a second thought, I swept Cardin's feet into the air. I hoped that this move would disarm Cardin, but unfortunately it didn't. But still, he was on the ground, giving me an advantage. Quickly, I raised my axe and brought it down on Cardin. But then I felt my great pain in my area.

Y/n: Son of a-!!!

I dropped my axe and fell to my knees; I held my groin in pain as I watched Cardin get back up.

Y/n: *Grunt* D-dirty move dude.

I glared at Cardin, but all he did was laugh.

Cardin: Hey, you think the grimm and criminals will play fair? Don't think so!

That was the last thing I heard as I felt Cardin's mace hit my chin.

No pov

Yang: Holy shit...Y/n!

Everyone watched in shock as Y/n was launched backwards. After crashing to the ground, his aura flickered before disappearing.

Glynda: Alright, enough!

Glynda walked to the center of the battle ground and faced the crowd of students. Cardin backed away as Y/n slowly started to get up.

Glynda: As you can see, Mr. L/n's aura level is in the red level, in a tournament-style duel, L/n would have been disqualified by the officiate observing the fight.
