Adishh pov.

In the midst of preparing for a complex pancreatitis case that needed surgery within six months, I was deeply engrossed in a patient's history. The challenge was significant, and my focus was unwavering, each detail a crucial step in the preparation for the upcoming procedure. It was during this intense moment of concentration that Adhya burst into my room, her energy a stark contrast to the serious atmosphere. She wrapped her arms around me in a warm hug from behind, her voice light and playful, "Adi, I'm bored. Let's go out."

Her words were like a reminder of the world outside my medical bubble, yet I was too entangled in the web of my responsibilities to appreciate the gesture. Suddenly, and without thinking, I reacted to her light-heartedness with frustration. My stress and fear about the surgery ahead made me snap, "Is all this fun for you? You may be jobless right now, but I have tons of work to do. Just fuck off now."

The harshness of my words was a direct reflection of the pressure I was under, not of my feelings towards her. The truth was, the impending surgery was a source of immense pressure, and the fear of not succeeding was overwhelming. I knew I needed this operation to go perfectly, not just for my own sake but for my patient's as well.

"I'm not here to irritate you, Adi. I'm sorry. I thought you could spare some time for me and for our love," she expressed, her eyes glistening with tears. We had weathered numerous storms in our relationship, but seeing her cry, something I had never caused before, pierced my heart. She apologized, prepared to retreat, but I halted her departure, gripping her hands.

"Give me just 10 minutes," I implored. Swiftly, I packed up my study table, meticulously organizing everything. In that moment, a realization dawned upon me – I needed to allocate time for us. She wasn't just a companion; she was my stress-buster, a source of solace that I had inadvertently neglected. The balance between my professional dedication and personal well-being became glaringly apparent. While the intricacies of my medical case demanded attention, the stress it wielded shouldn't overshadow the serenity she brought into my life.

Inhaling a deep breath, I made a conscious effort to cast aside the weight of work-related thoughts. Turning towards Adhya, a genuine smile adorned my face, and with a hopeful proposition, I said, "I can't take you out, but how about ordering something? We can talk and watch a couple of series, sound good?" I added a touch of puppy-eyed charm to sweeten the deal.

"Fine, but I get to order whatever I want, and you foot the bill. Consider it your punishment," she declared, a mischievous smile returning to her face.

"Oh, can I tweak the punishment a bit?" I suggested with a playful grin. "How about some kisses?"

"What?" she responded, clearly caught off guard.

"You know, kisses can work wonders in reducing anxiety and stress," I teased, winking at her.

"Shut up and order; I'm hungry," she retorted, playfully hitting my arm.

We enjoyed a delicious meal together, but when she declined watching a series, she shared, "Adi, I understand your dedication to your profession, but it shouldn't come at the expense of your health and mental peace." I simply hummed, acknowledging the truth in her words.

"Adi, express yourself. Avoid provoking my ire," she warned, her gaze unwavering. Torn between not wanting to burden her and recognizing her greater concern for me than I have for myself, I grappled with a delicate dilemma.

In the depths of my contemplation, I carefully expressed, "I understand, boo bear. This case isn't just about my career; it's a heartfelt endeavor for a 14-year-old boy yearning for a chance at life. My commitment to winning is singularly dedicated to him." Without warning, she enveloped me in her embrace, infusing a comforting warmth that momentarily diminished my sense of self, and the burdens of tension dissipated. "Could you stay with me tonight, please?" Though we've spent nights together before, tonight is different—we're sharing a bed for the first time. I don't mean anything extravagant; I just want her close, to cuddle and feel the comfort of her embrace.

"Alright, Adi," she said, planting a gentle kiss on my forehead. Delving into her chocolate ice cream, she savored each bite. As she polished off the last spoonful, a contented sigh escaped her lips. "Ah, it's Sunday – no work worries. I can sleep in tomorrow without a care."

Resting her head on my shoulder and encircling me with a warm embrace, she shared, "Adi, I don't need your entire day; just gift me 30 minutes. In that short span, it's a universe where it's just us, away from the noise of the world, where only Adishh and Adhya exist." Lifting her head to look into my eyes, a soft blush painted her cheeks. With a gentle curiosity, I stole a peek at her lips, evoking a heartwarming blush and a moment of sweet connection.
