Adishh's POV.
It had been a long, grueling day at the hospital. Two major surgeries back-to-back had drained me, both physically and emotionally. As I drove home, my mind wandered back to the night before. I had promised Adhya a dinner date, but got caught up with colleagues and completely forgot to inform her. She had every right to be angry, and I felt like an absolute idiot for neglecting her like that.
When I finally walked into our apartment, I heard Adhya's voice from the living room. She was on the phone, and her tone was serious. I paused, trying to catch snippets of the conversation. Words like "law" and "legal action" stood out, sending a chill down my spine.
"I'm done with all this gouri, but still worried about court rules." she said to the person on the other end of the line.
My heart dropped, and I slowly crept forward, trying to listen to the rest of her conversation.
"I know," she sighed, running a hand over her face. "I just need a few more days. My case is almost ready, but I've got to meet the lawyer and work out some legal issues. If everything goes well, we can start the court proceeding within a few months."
My heart pounded as I connected the dots. Was she talking about divorce? Had I pushed her too far?
I couldn't bear the thought. In a state of panic, I rushed towards her and wrapped my arms around her from behind, holding her tightly. Tears streamed down my face as I buried my head in her shoulder, my emotions spilling out uncontrollably.
"I'm so sorry, Adhya," I sobbed. "I will never, ever avoid you again. Please, don’t leave me."
She stiffened in my arms, clearly surprised by my sudden outburst. She quickly ended the call and turned to face me, her hands gently cupping my face. "Adi, what are you talking about?"
I looked at her, my vision blurred by tears. "I heard you talking about legal action and... I thought... I thought you wanted a divorce." I said sobbing heavily.
She let out a shaky laugh, wiping my tears with her thumb. "Adi, I was talking about our project patent, not divorce. I would never, ever divorce you."
I blinked, my tears slowing. "The project patent?" I asked, my voice a whisper.
She smiled and nodded. "Yes, the project patent.""But why were you talking about court, lawyer?"
She chuckled and placed her hand on my chest "then how will you register your patents if you don't do it in court."
She laughed and kissed my cheek "I can’t believe you thought I was planning to divorce you."
I felt a mix of relief and embarrassment. "I’m such an idiot."
She chuckled, brushing my hair back. "Yes, you are. But you’re my idiot."
I smiled and pulled her close, kissing her softly. I loved this woman more than anything else in the world, and I wasn't planning to lose her ever again.
"I'm hungry," she said after a while, gently nudging me away. "I'm going to get dinner ready, okay?"
I nodded, taking a seat on the couch. She turned to leave, then stopped. "And Adi?"
I looked up at her. "Yes, laddu.""I think your forgiveness is granted."
She kissed me on the lips before walking into the kitchen, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
"How could I forget about that?" I mumbled to myself, laughing at the ridiculousness of it all.
She said "lets set candle light dinner tonight." From the kitchen.
