Adhya pov
After the whirlwind of events on my birthday, I finally vacated my apartment with a heavy heart and shifted into a PG close to my old place. Drained from the day's emotional rollercoaster, I looked forward to unwinding and enjoying my day off tomorrow.
Post-shower, feeling slightly refreshed, I checked my phone to find a message from Adi.
"Hi boo bear," it read, instantly bringing a smile to my face despite the fatigue.
"How are you feeling?" he inquired, his concern palpable even through text.
"Tired, and hungry," I replied, my stomach seconding that sentiment with a timely grumble.
"Good, then let's go out for dinner," he suggested, his message lighting up my screen and momentarily my mood.
"No," I typed back, the heaviness of my limbs dictating my response more than my desire to see him.
"Why?" came his immediate question, tinged with disappointment I could almost hear.
"I need to rest today," I explained, hoping he would understand my need for solitude and recovery.
"Ok then, good night 😉," he sent, his emoji softening the blow of the denied invitation.
"Good night 😊," I responded, the exchange leaving me with a lingering warmth as I prepared to sleep.
Just as I was about to drift off, a knock at my door jolted me awake.
"Who is it?" I called out, not expecting anyone at this hour.
"I'm your roommate, Ankitha," came the response, a hint of hesitation in her voice.
"Oh, yeah," I muttered, suddenly remembering the presence of another person in my living space. I opened the door to find Ankitha standing in the corridor, her posture suggesting she was equally uncomfortable with this late-night interaction.
"Where were you yesterday?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of my exhaustion as I recalled her absence the day before.
"Sorry, I had some family issues," Ankitha replied, her tone apologetic, suggesting the weight of her personal troubles.
"Okay," I said, my response a mix of understanding and a silent acknowledgment of the shared complexities of our lives.
"Sorry, I've seen you before but I couldn't quite place you," I admitted, my curiosity getting the better of me.
"I'm a new intern in the gastroenterology department, and Dr. Adishh is my senior. Actually, I'm the one who recommended this PG to him. I thought it was for his sister or cousin, but I had no idea it was you," Ankitha explained, her expression a mix of surprise and awkwardness. Despite her words, I couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
Adishh Pov
After days of non-stop work at the hospital, I was at the peak of exhaustion. Just then, my phone rang with a call from Jeevan, instantly lifting my spirits.
"Hello, buddy!" Jeevan exclaimed, his voice booming with excitement.
"Oh, my dear friend, what's got you so excited all of a sudden?" I inquired, intrigued by his jubilant tone.
"Bro, I got a promotion, and I'm moving to Sweden for the next year. See, I'm earning, and at the same time, my passion for traveling is being fulfilled," he explained, practically buzzing with joy. It seemed like he was flying high with happiness.
"No way, bro! Congratulations!" I exclaimed, matching his excitement. "I'm so happy for you. So, when will you be leaving?"
"It's all set for a month's time, and I'll be flying to Stockholm as soon as I get my visa. I'm looking for a place to stay and have booked a ticket. So, I'll be coming to India tomorrow, starting with Bengaluru," he explained.
"That's fantastic. Need any help settling down and shopping?" I offered, knowing he'd probably refuse but wanting to extend a hand nonetheless.
"Of course, you have to help. As a doctor earning in lakhs, it's your duty to finance your friend, so get ready with your credit card for the next 3 days," he joked, his mischievous nature shining through.
"Hey, you got a promotion, so you're the one who's going to pay, and you're earning in dollars," I retorted, trying to lighten the mood.
"Don't be such a miser, bro. You're the richest person I know, so I'm asking you for money, and you should be happy," he teased back.
"Fine," I sighed, not wanting to prolong the pointless banter.
"Anyway, spill the beans about your personal life. Are you dating anyone?" he asked, eager for some juicy gossip.
"Well, my parents found out about our relationship, so they're planning for marriage. But I have a major case to handle for the next 3 months, so we're taking a small break before wedding bells start ringing," I explained.
"I see. It's probably a good idea to postpone your marriage, especially for such a big case," Jeevan remarked.
"Yeah, I agree," I nodded in affirmation.
"How did you muster up the courage to talk about your love life to your family?" he inquired, genuinely curious.
"Well, we got caught kissing on her birthday, so she couldn't explain everything," I revealed.
"Oh, wow. Now that's interesting. How did that happen?" Jeevan probed further, clearly intrigued by the story. Keeping secrets from friends can sometimes be the toughest job.
I proceeded to recount the entire incident, hoping to satisfy his curiosity.
After chatting with Jeevan, I freshened up and was about to open my laptop when I received a call from my love, Adhya.
"Hey, love. How was your day?" I inquired, eager to hear her voice.
"Long," she sighed, her tone heavy with exhaustion.
"Why's that?" I asked, concerned.
"Because, once again, it's the same old boring PG life. I miss my flat," she confessed, her voice tinged with longing.
"Are you missing your flat or missing me? I'm feeling a bit hurt here," I teased, trying to lighten the mood.
"I miss my flat because I feel lonely in my own home. But I don't want to admit that I'm missing you," she replied, her words laced with a hint of sadness. I could sense the tears welling up in her eyes.
"To lift your spirits, how about we go for a drive right now?" I suggested, eager to bring a smile to her face.
"Okay, I'll be there in a minute. Wait for me," she agreed before ending the call.
I freshened up and changed into more comfortable clothes. Then, I began searching for my hoodie, knowing she wouldn't have dressed warmly for the chilly night ride.
"Hey, Boo bear, are you ready?" I texted her as I stood outside her PG, my faithful bike by my side, my first love.
Before my message could even reach her, she appeared beside me, weared my hoodie and radiating beauty.
"Yes, let's go," she said eagerly, hopping onto the back of my bike.
I handed her a helmet and took mine, ensuring her safety before we embarked on our adventure.
She loved the exhilarating bike ride, and seeing her happy filled me with joy. It was a magical journey for both of us, filled with the thrill of the night and the warmth of our love.
