Adhya’s POV:

Everything was going as usual. The novelty of being married was still fresh, but there was a comforting familiarity in our routines. After all, we had dated for a long time and used to be neighbors, so we had spent countless days together. But one evening, things took a turn.

It started with a simple plan. Adishh had promised to take me out to dinner, a chance for us to reconnect after a busy week. I had looked forward to it all day, imagining the warmth of his hand in mine, the soft glow of the restaurant lights, the intimate conversations that would flow between us.

But as the evening approached, I received a message from him: “Working late. Let’s reschedule dinner.” My heart sank. I felt disappointed, but I decided to be understanding. After all, work was important.

Hours passed, and I busied myself with a book, trying to keep my mind off the disappointment. When I finally heard the door open, it was much later than I had expected. I got up, ready to greet him, but stopped in my tracks as I saw the look on his face.

“Hey,” I said softly.

“Hey,” he replied, his voice distant.

“Did you have a long day?” I asked, trying to keep the conversation light.

“Yeah, something like that,” he said, walking past me to the bedroom.

It wasn’t until later, when I checked social media, that I saw the photos. Adishh was out to dinner, not working late as he had said, but with his colleagues. He hadn’t even informed me. My disappointment turned to anger. How could he forget about our plans and not even bother to tell me?

When he finally emerged from the bedroom, I couldn’t hold back any longer. “You lied to me,” I said, my voice shaking with anger.

“What?” He looked genuinely confused.

“You said you were working late, but you were out with your colleagues. You forgot about our dinner plans, Adi.”

He sighed, rubbing his temples. “I’m sorry, Adhya. It was a last-minute thing. I didn’t mean to forget.”

“But you did forget,” I snapped. “And you didn’t even bother to tell me. Do you know how that makes me feel?”

“Look, I said I’m sorry. Can we just drop it?”

“No, we can’t just drop it. This isn’t the first time you’ve done this. I need to know that I matter to you.”

“You do matter to me,” he said, his voice rising. “But I have responsibilities, too. I can’t always put you first.”

“That’s not the point,” I said, tears welling up in my eyes. “I just wanted you to consider my feelings. Is that too much to ask?”

He didn’t respond, and the silence stretched between us. Finally, he turned and walked out of the room, heading to the guest bedroom. “Fine. I’ll sleep in the other room tonight.”

Adishh’s POV:

The next morning, the tension was palpable. We barely spoke to each other, moving through our routines in silence. I felt a knot of guilt in my stomach, but I was also offended by how she had reacted. Couldn’t she understand that sometimes things came up unexpectedly?

At work, I couldn’t concentrate. My mind kept drifting back to our fight. I hated this silence between us, this cold wall that had sprung up overnight. I wanted to fix things, but I wasn’t sure how.

When I got home that Even ring , the atmosphere was still icy. Adhya was in the kitchen, her movements precise and deliberate. She didn’t look up when I entered.

“Adhya,” I said softly, trying to break the silence.

She didn’t respond, her back to me as she continued chopping vegetables. I walked over and gently placed my hand on her shoulder. “I’m sorry about last night. I should have told you about the change in plans.”

She finally turned to face me, her eyes red-rimmed. “It’s not just about last night, Adi. It’s about feeling like I’m not a priority.”

“You are a priority,” I said, my voice earnest. “I just... I screwed up. I’m sorry.”

Her shoulders sagged, and she let out a deep sigh. “I’m just tired, Adi. Tired of feeling like I’m always second to your work. Tired of you putting me on the back burner, even if it was unintentional. And I don't know what to do about it."

"Always same, I'm a doctor and you know how is a doctor life is. I want to take care of you, not make you sad. I think I will understand and respect my career." I said, reaching to hold her hand.

"Yes, and I should understand you too but what about my needs? What if I feel lonely and I want you by my side. I need your touch and love."

"I dont like drag much adhya, I have operation tomorrow, I dont like mess my mood with something like this."

"Okay, I will not disturb you." She said, with a defeated tone.

And next i found note that breakfast is ready and she us getting so she took a cab for hospital.

I felt a sharp pang in my chest, my stomach churning with unease. Was this it? Was this the beginning of the end?And even I left for hospital there was no energy to fight with her. All long day was busy, Trishul and me were heading towards canteen where I met Adhya after long time. She looked tired and upset. I stood near her with tray and a tea, trying to say something. She started to walk towards her table and I followed her.

She sat down, and I stood in front of her. "Adhya, what's wrong?" I asked, my tone soft.

"Just leave me alone, Adi. I don't want to talk." By saying this she left canteen, her ignorance drive me crazy.

Author's Note

I know the chapters are quite short, but I don't want my little grown-up and married babies to fight too much. However, it's important to remember that in any relationship, a bit of conflict can help us understand each other's love and effort more deeply. Even in fiction, this story carries the soul of both the reader and the writer.
