With so much to worry about and so much to do - startling amounts of homework that frequently kept us fifth-years working until past midnight, secret DA sessions and regular counselling - January seemed to be passing alarmingly fast.

Before I knew it, February had arrived, bringing with it wetter and warmer weather and the prospect of the second Hogsmeade visit of the year.

"Someone's popular." Ron comments teasingly as I walk into the common room where they had all been sitting, with yet another round of my received Valentine's Day gifts consisting of all sorts: Chocolates, flowers, colourful packages, cards... I couldn't escape the amused glint in Ron's eyes. He didn't waste a moment before having seized the opportunity to tease.

"Shut it, Weasley." I retort. "They're all still from the second years I help out." As a prefect, most of my duties were assigned to working with the second years for some reason. Prior to February, I had not realised how popular I was amongst them...

Hermione, hiding a smile, chimed in, "You're practically drowning in chocolates..." she reaches for a box of one of them from under my arm and pops one into her mouth "not that I'm complaining."

"Helping out, or starting a Y/n fan club?" Ron adds, still grinning.

"Ron, don't be jealous. Maybe one day you'll get your own stack of Valentine's gifts." Harry smiles.

"When pigs fly." Hermione says under her breath and receives a dagger glare from Ron.

"So, who's the lucky recipient of Y/n's Prefect Love Services this year?" Ron picks up right where he had left off, mocking how the second years look at me with heart eyes.

"Nobody." I reply as I slump down in the single armchair adjacent to the one him and Hermione were on. Harry was on the floor leaning against their couch.

"You're telling me you rejected every single one?" Ron asks.

"Well what was I supposed to do? Take a 12 year old to lunch?" I reply, smiling as I, myself, dig into one of my chocolate boxes. "Let them down gently though, of course."

"Maybe they appreciate your dedication to helping them. It's not every prefect who goes above and beyond like you do." Harry comments, not taking his eyes off of his textbook. Ron, Hermione and i all look at each other blankly, Harry's choice of words had sounded quite out of character.

"I don't go 'above and beyond'. I just treat them like they're human. Unlike someone over here." I subtly indicate to Ron and Hermione giggles.

"They're devils that lot. We definitely weren't that bad when we were their age." Ron, leaning back on the couch, grinned mischievously, "Or maybe they're all just secretly in love with you."

I giggled and threw a chocolate wrapper at Ron, "Enough. Let's talk about something else."

"Or keep the topic going. Any success in finding a Valentine?" Ron asks and looks to Hermione and I. Harry having Cho as his was long known.

"It's not a failure if you're not looking." Hermione replies, proudly. "I'm not bothering with such this year."

"Is it cause Vicky's not here this year?" Ron mocks.

"Don't call Viktor that." She snaps.

"Whatever." Ron rolls his eyes and looks over at me. "And you?"
