A/n- if you don't remember this part in the ootp book (I can't for the life of me remember if it's in the movie), it's after Harry's dream about Arthur getting injured, so Harry and all the Weasleys left Hogwarts to go to 12 Grimmauld Place, but it's from y/n's perspective💓
—————————————————————
Hermione and I woke up early as usual for our classes of the day. Christmas break starts in 3 days and she couldn't be more excited. I, on the other hand, was dreading Christmas as a whole.I hadn't told anybody, but I wasn't going home for Christmas. I couldn't bring myself to. Perhaps having some alone time at Hogwarts would help?
We head down for breakfast and take our seats at the Gryffindor table. We make it through our entire meal without sight of a single one of the redhead population nor Potter. I brushed it off but Hermione was much more inquisitive.
"Where are they." she asks for the thousandth time. "Ron would never miss breakfast. Never ever. Not even if the world was crumbling, nothing before breakfast."
She was going on like Ron was the only one missing.
"Mione, my answer from 2 seconds ago is the same. I know as much as you, which is nothing." i reply.
"Do you think they overslept?" she inquires.
"Every single Weasley, plus Harry? Fat chance." I reply as we were walking to our first lesson of the day, Charms.
"Do you think something happened to them?" She asks as she grasps a bullfrog hopping across our desk. We were once again practicing the Silencing charm in Charms, although Hermione had pretty much mastered it at this point.
"I doubt it, Mione." I say in a monotonous tone.
"Missing lunch too? This is getting worrying. Aren't you worried y/n???" she asks hastily as she's biting into a sandwich during lunch. We were sitting outside, the quad layered in snow.
Frankly, I was starting to not care about their whereabouts. I would've thought Hermione would be over the moon at the fact that she isn't seeing Ron right now, considering all they do it bicker like cat and dog, but she was driving me crazy with all her questions.
"Hi Diggory." someone says and sits down beside me, their arm swinging around my shoulder.
"Hey Matt." I smile and kiss his cheek.
We hadn't told anyone, but it hadn't taken long for our relationship to reach a rough patch. A conversation can turn to stalemate argument in the blink of an eye. It was crazy honestly.
But I guess that's what happens when you put two stubborn people together, although Harry was also quite stubborn and when we were together we had never fought like how Matt and I do.
The first tell tale sign was how short our honeymoon period had been.
"So what's everyone's Christmas plans?" he asks, removing his arm from around my shoulder and bringing his gloved hands together for some warmth.
"Skiing with my parents." Hermione replies, still deep in her own thought. Mattheo pulls a slight frown, he'd forgotten Hermione was muggle born. I whack him hard and he immediately softens his expression.
If there was anything I did not let slide, it was a blood supremacist belief. And he knew that.
Compared to his other house members, he was far from the worst. He, at least, did not base any sort of friendship or relationship on the fact that one was a pure blood. He did not revolve his personality around his family name. He did not call people Mudbloods.
