IM SO SORRY FOR HOW LATE THIS IS.

If it makes it any better, it's a double update😭

Y/n pov

The first thing I rendered was the sharp, sterile smell of antiseptic.

My head felt heavy, as if it were filled with lead, and my entire body ached with a dull, tired, persistent pain.

I blinked slowly, my vision blurring in and out of focus. The world came into focus slowly, blurring and sharpening in waves.  and the familiar hum of the hospital wing at Hogwarts filled my ears.

I felt someone's hand in mine and within the second arms were thrown around me,pulling me into a tight embrace. The warmth of their body, the familiar scent of them...

"Oh, Y/n," Harry whispers in my ear, he cradled the back of my head with one hand.

I weakly lifted my arms to wrap around him. I buried my face in his shoulder, closing my eyes and feeling a lump in my throat that had never really gone away.

"Let her breathe Harry, dear," Madam Pomfrey says sternly. But Harry's grip only got tighter.

I felt a different hand on my shoulder. Upon opening my eyes I saw Hermione with the same expression on her face after the Third Task.

Unfortunately, Pomfrey really was not having it. She nudged Harry out the way to reach me and adjust my pillows.

"You lost a copious amount of blood, dear... What would've happened if I'd received you a mere few minutes later, I do not like to think. If you feel light headed, tell me immediately... You also broke two ribs."

Harry winced in such a way that would've elicited teasing for months on end from Ron if this were any other circumstance. However, I saw Ron standing around the bed beside me, along with Ginny, Luna, Tonks, and Lupin.

Hermione tugged on Tonks' sleeve, and she turned round. Everyone followed suit. Seconds later was my bed the one now surrounded. Pomfrey looked like she was about to have a fit.

I felt Harry's hand slide into mine once more as the nurse continued speaking.

"I've dealt with the worst. Your ribs are good as new, and your leg... Considering the damage — the claw had hit bone... several times — and how long it'd taken for you to reach me... I was focused on well... keeping you alive, to put it plainly. It's patched up, but not my best work. You'll have a small limp for a bit but it'll be gone in no time if you rest up."

I stared at her, before swallowing hard and nodding — my mind was in shambles. I was trying to piece together the last few hours.

"Thank you," I manage to get out, my voice sounded small.

The moment Pomfrey turned her back, arms were swung around me.

Each voice was pitiful... breathless, sympathising.

"I just—" Tonks shakes her head. "Amos...? He taught me everything I know. I can't believe it."

Her eyes welled with tears and Lupin put a comforting arm around her.

Tonks' words seemed to echo in the hollow space of my mind.

Everything felt distant, muffled, like I was underwater. I could feel the warmth of Harry's hand in mine, the slight pressure of Hermione's hand on my shoulder, and see the concerned faces around me, but it all felt unreal.

The slight sting in my leg, the bandage around my midsection, even the tightness in my chest—it all seemed secondary, as though it was happening to someone else.
