"Hurry up!"

"Slow down, for fucks—!"

"The day waits for no one!"

"Yes Ced," I laughed, "I'm coming!"

My brother and I were climbing up a hill on the bank of the Black Lake. It was a warm spring day, the grass a hazy and bright shade of green. The butterflies fluttering innocently past our line of vision. The lake glistened in the golden sunlight.

In other words, the perfect weather for a swim.

Cedric and I had thrown on our swimsuits, not wanting to waste a moment,

"The lake isn't going anywhere just by the way!" I added, the big smile on my face starting to ache.

"It's supposed to be a race!" Cedric replied, a few paces ahead of me.

"Since when!?"

"It's always a race, you twat!"

With a groan, I walked faster. Cedric had started jogging.

"Hey no fair!" I shouted.

"Nobody said you can't jog," he smiled at me.

I rolled my eyes, and started running. I'd caught up quickly to his jog and his expression read that he was not going to allow me to win.

"You can't beat me, I hope you know that," he said.

"Well—!"

"Sorry, I don't speak LOOOOSER," he shouted as he overtook me. Cedric could run, I'll give him that. I slowed down, breathing heavily and grasping my mid section.

"Merlin, Ced, how old are we?" I teased at his choice of words.

I stopped and looked around, actually taking in my surroundings. I don't recall a hill this big along the bank of the Black Lake?

"Uh... Cedric?"

He groaned and turned around, "Come on!"

He grabbed my wrist and pulled me along with him, towards the edge of the hill to jump off into the lake.

"But—?"

"Ughhh, you talk you much, Y/n/n, I hope you know that," he smiled. I hadn't heard that name in while... Why had he stopped calling me that? But soon, every question had escaped my mind upon remembering how happy the moment was. How happy I was.

Once we'd reached the edge of the hill, I stopped dead in my tracks, peering down and the drop down to the water.

Cedric's smile only grew, "You scared?"

"No!" I scoffed, sounding a little more offended than I'd intended to.

"Does Y/n/n want me to hold her hand," Cedric teased, pouting.

"Oh shut it," I smacked his arm and he laughed. That laugh. My word, was it heavenly. I furrowed my eyebrows, still smiling, as I watched the way my brother's face pulled when he was happy.
