Narrator's POV
"Let us give a round of applause to the principal"
Claps sounded all about in the auditorium for the principal's recent speech.
A speech that left the graduates groaning at how long it was, but also left the parents smiling and laughing.
"Okay okay, now It is my honor to call this year's valedictorian to the stage, who is it?" The male speaker asked rhetorically.
"Jordin!!" Shouts filled the room as people screamed the teen's name.
This caused a smile to stain her face as she exited her seat and put her fan where she had recently sat.
"Introducing the one, the only, the top achiever, dance captain, head of the science club, and most importantly the studios, JORDIN BLAKE" The speaker emphasized Jordin's name, and claps and screams soon started to sound in the auditorium once more.
Everyone was so proud and fund of the girl who was now making her way to the podium to give her valedictory speech. Gabriel's scream was the loudest of all as she jumped out of her seat and clapped for her best friend.
"YE GOOD GYAL, MY BESTIE DAT!!"
The valedictorian rolled her eyes at her best friend's antics, still sporting a smile on her face even though she was embarrassed and nervous from all the attention she was receiving.
Jordin after finally reaching the podium, took the mic from the speaker with a warm smile. The crowd was still screaming and shouting in joy, only quieting down once the valedictorian tapped the mic twice.
"Hi everyone" The teen started.
"Hi Jordin" the crowd replied.
This caused Jordin to smile wider if that was even possible.
She cleared her throat before she placed her folder on the glass pulpit.
The crowd watched quietly as she opened the pink folder and flipped a few pages.
Suddenly she sighed into the microphone and closed the folder with one quick movement.
"You know I came up here with a whole speech prepared" She laughed while flashing the folder around showing the students sitting before her.
"But I guess that wouldn't make it as sincere as it would sound if I truely spoke from here" Jordin pointed to her heart.
The crowd remained silent having their full attention on the darkskin.
"Grade 11 wasn't the best year. I think everyone sitting here in a gown can say it may have been the worst year ever"
"SO REAL!!" someone shoued from the crowd.
The others started to laugh at this.
"I know a lot of us here thought that we wouldn't make it to this day. Whether it was getting suspended because mi nuh know, maybe a gyal or boy did a rile unu up" Laughter filled the room once more, Jordin rolling her eyes as she spoke.
"Maybe it was even suicide because of personal issues. But I'm here to tell you that WE MADE IT!!" Jordin shouted the last part.
Everyone stared to clap and scream at this. Her words hiding them and settling at there core.
"Through all the hardships, the hardcore SBA and labs, school trios that we didn't want to go on but had to at the same time" Laughter sounded from everyone at this.
"Or even coming to school on a whole. Ay mi know seh some a unu madda di affi dash some cold wata pan unu some morning ino" Jordin laughed along with the crowd cutting her speech short.
