Sanele.

I walk into the principles office and I find them already waiting for me.

There's a white boy with a bloodied nose and a bruised cheek and Sibonelo on the other hands remains unscathed except for his torn jersey.

The white boys parents sit next to him as his mother tightly clutches her purse in an uncomfortable manner and the fathers face Implies that he's very annoyed with the situation.

I watch Sibonelo for a few moments before I look at the boy again and he looks away from me in anger.

"Mr Gumede we're glad that you could finally join us if you could just kindly take a seat."
The principle says as she points me to the chair that's seated next to Sibonelo's and I take my seat.

"We know that it's really disturbing to call you here under these circumstances,.as you are all wondering-"
She pauses when she sees Anele walk into the room who apologizes for being late as she walks further into the room dressed in sweats.

She doesn't look like she's been to work today and the state of her puffy eyes confirms exactly what her attires tell me . I look away from her and at the principal as I try my best for make sense of the amount of weird things I've come to notice lately.

"Thank you for joining us miss Gumede, like I was just about to explain, We have all called you here to discuss an incident that happened earlier this afternoon... there was an altercation amongst your sons from which I understand it was instigated by Mr Gumede, now we need you parents to the understand that the school has a no violence tolerance code that we teach our pupils... we are afraid that Mr Gumede has violated this rule and this is something that cannot be excused by the school."

"My son is not a violent person clearly he must've been provoked."
Anele starts and the principal politely nods her head in understanding.

"But behaviors like this cannot be excused, he has refused to speak to anybody about this matter and has remained in complaint throughout."

"So we are just going to ignore the fact that this boy was as much involved in this as my son."

"Your delinquent son hit my boy, my son is the victim here."
The mother jumps.

"Angi Kahulumi nawe."
I answer as i look at her through my peripheral vision before I stare at the principal again knowing very well that she doesn't hear sh***t

"What did you say to my wife ?"
He starts as he puts his hands on the table in an intimidating stace and I look at the principal again.

"Mr Gumede I would advise that we all use a language that we can all understand."

"No I am good..."
I tell her and she sighs before she claps her hands again and she tries to keep it as professional as possible.

Where was she when we were forced to speak Afrikaans nge nkani, im tired.

" Mr Steekamp used very offensive language towards Mr Gumede which he reacted in an unnecessary manner which we don't condone at this school."

I see what's happening here.

"So we are just going to disregard his part in this whole matter on focus on my son ?"

"To be fair Mr Steekamp is the victim here although he may have addressed him inappropriately but his actions will not be excused either but the way your son acted-"

"Sibonelo, utheni kuwena Lomfana ?"
I ask and him and only stares down at his legs in anger.

Sibonelo is lot like me, and I know that in the state that he is in his fist is already locked and ready to punch that white boy in his face again, he's not yet had his fill.
