The wait for Wormtail's letter was a true testament of Leah's patience. She waited, day in and day out. She barely ate or slept. All she did was pace her room in Malfoy Manor. Every time she saw a bird out her window, she would watch it until it was clear that the bird was carrying no message. More than once Leah wondered if she had been betrayed. Not even her O.W.L.s could distract her, though of course she got perfect scores.

Finally his owl came. Early one morning, a large brown owl tapped on Leah's window with enough force to break the glass. She got up hurriedly and opened the window. The owl dropped its letter and left. Leah tore the parchment in two in her haste to read it. Now she knew exactly where she had to go. Grabbing her traveling cloak, she hurried to the front door where she was stopped by her Aunt Narcissa.

"Where are you going so early in the morning?" she asked.

"Out." Leah put her hand on the door and pulled, but Aunt Narcissa's pale hand appeared, keeping the door shut.

"Out where?" Her voice was sharp.

"Savannah's." Leah sighed. She didn't like having to lie to the woman who had raised her, but no one could know what she was doing yet.

"This early?"

"Yes, she wants an all day girl thing." Leah shrugged, forcing nonchalance.

"Will you be home for dinner?" She removed her hand from the door.

"Undecided yet. I'll let you know." Leah yanked open the door and slipped outside before her aunt could bombard her with more questions.

The Malfoy Manor had large grounds, covered in various plants. Aunt Narcissa love to sit in her garden and watch Leah and her sisters play in the flowers when they were younger. But now Leah had no time for games. She threw the hood of her cloak up to protect herself from the chill of the morning before she walked to the gate at the edge of the property. Once there, she twisted and where her body should have been, flapped a large black raven with Leah's piecing green eyes.

She flapped to gain altitude, knowing where she must go. The journey seemed to take forever, but eventually she found her destination. Leah didn't think much of Wormtail's living choices. The house was big and had a sense of former grandeur, but now the wood was rotting and vines were creeping up the sides. She circled above the house, seeing a light flicker in one of the windows, she figured that's where they were.

She landed on the ground and transformed back into herself. The back door of the house had been left unlocked. She stepped inside and nearly chocked because there was so much dust in the air. Trying to hold her breath, she climbed the stairs. The room at the end of the hall was where the light was coming from. In the room was a high backed chair. Wormtail was no where to be seen.

"Leah." The voice was barely a whisper and it was coming from the chair. She edged around it and had to try her best not to flinch away. Her father sat in the chair, but he looked like a skinless baby. It repulsed Leah, but she stood her ground.

"Father. Why are you alone?"

"Wormtail has gone to milk Nagini for me."

"Nagini?"

"I forget, you have not met her yet. You will love her, my dear." He gave a weak chuckle. "Now sit. We have much to discuss."

Leah folded herself gracefully onto the rug in front of his chair.

"Wormtail has brought me a special visitor, Bertha Jorkins. She has been most useful and I have now devised a plan. The Triwizard Tournament will be held at Hogwarts this year. I need a faithful Death Eater I can trust to ensure Harry Potter's name gets entered in the tournament and guide him to win. I have need of him to return to my body."
