"Leah," someone hissed in her ear. She felt a series of soft, yet still painful taps on the side of her face. She opened her eyes but all she could see was black. Her heart quickened, thinking that the pain in her head had caused her to go blind. "Bloody hell, her eyes!" Amber yelled.

Slowly, her vision came back, revealing Amber leaning directly over her. Once it was clear that she was coming to, Amber sat back and Leah was able to see the others surrounding her, Barty, Daniel, Daphne, and Savannah.

"What's wrong with my eyes?" Leah muttered as she slowly sat up.

"They were red!" Amber blurted. Leah looked at her and Daphne behind her. Both of them were pale and shaky. Had they passed out too?

"But they're back to green now," Barty said, seeing the fear flash across her face and making his way to her side. "How's your head?"

Leah touched it. The bruise on her forehead still pained her, but the stabbing headache was gone. "Fine now. Wait, how did you know it was my head?"

"You were kinda.. talking while you were unconscious," Daphne explained. "You kept yelling that your head was hurting."

Leah frowned. She couldn't remember saying anything. She thought she had been passed out cold. Maybe that was why she couldn't remember anything. "Did you and Amber pass out too?"

"No," Amber shook her head, "but we did get headaches, just not as bad as yours, it would seem."

"Why do you think it happened?" Leah asked no one in particular.

It was Daniel who answered. "Voldemort fell as well when he cast his curse. As his daughters, you have a connection to him through your blood that none of the rest of us hav. It makes sense that you felt his pain. Leah, as the oldest, you felt it more."

None of it made any sense to Leah. Kids don't have magical connections to those parents. Trying to clear her mind, Leah stood up and only then did Leah realize how quiet the clearing was. There were no shouts of joy or triumph like she expected. Other than the group of people around her, all eyes were on the center of the clearing where Lord Voldemort was laying on the ground. The body of Harry Potter laid a few feet away.

"My Lord," Bellartix whispered, leaning over him. "My Lord."

Just as Leah was wondering if her father was even conscious, he snapped, "That will do," and Bellatrix backed away.

Leah melted into the crowd of Death Eaters, allowing her mother to remain in the center with her father. "My Lord, let me.."

"I do not require assistance!" Voldemort hissed coldly. "The boy.. is he dead?" Silence. All heads turned to look at Harry's body, but no one spoke. Leah could hear the choking sobs of Hagrid behind her.

"You!" he shrieked. He jabbed his wand at Narcissa with a bang. She squealed. "Examine him. Tell me whether he is dead!"

Sending Leah a fearful look, Narcissa hurried over and crouched low over Harry. Her hair hid both their faces. Leah held her breath. It only took a couple of seconds, but to Leah it felt like an eternity. "He is dead!" Narcissa called as she stood up.

The clearing exploded in cheers. Unnoticed by anyone, Leah sagged back into Barty's arms in defeat. It was over. She would live the rest of her life as Voldemort's tool, like she had been born to be, if he didn't kill her for her disobedience first. She would raise her children in a world full of war and death. She turned her face into Barty's neck to hide the tears that were threatening to overwhelm her eyes.

"You see!" Voldemort called over the cheers. "Harry Potter is dead by my hand, no man alive can threaten me now! Watch! Crucio!" Leah forced herself to watch as his body was thrown into the air. She didn't care for Harry Potter of course, but the only future she could want was only possible with Harry defeating Voldemort. She didn't care that she was being selfish, she had a right to live as much as anyone else.
