A pair of hazel green eyes flickered over a round freckled face. Long eyelashes, dark eyebrows, full lips, rosy cheeks...

Dean was on his side, silently observing Vinnie's soft features. Slowly her eyes opened, a pair of pale blue eyes meeting his.

Dean quickly looked away, but not quick enough for Vinnie to not wonder what he was doing.

Vinnie yawned and stretched, turning over to see that Sam was gone from his bed. Moth was resting in the indentation of where Sam had slept.

"Where's Sam?" She asked, sitting up and looking at Dean.

"He went to grab us breakfast." He replied, "Don't worry."

Vinnie nodded, "Okay. Have you found any new cases?" She asked, moving closer to Dean.

Dean swallowed thickly, glancing at her. "Strange drownings, you think we should check it out?"

Vinnie sighed, "It's worth a shot..."

The trio went all the way to Wisconsin to investigate a series of odd drownings over the course of a few days.

The drownings turned out to be caused by a very vengeful spirit who'd been drowned as a child. The case was emotionally draining for Vinnie, as it would be for anyone.

It nearly led to the death of a small child whose grandpa instead took his place. It had to have been one of the most upsetting things for her to see, but she was forced to learn... you can't save them all.

Vinnie rode in the passenger's seat behind Dean, staring out the window.

Dean looked back at Sam who beckoned towards Vinnie. "Vin... You alright?" She nodded slowly, "I've never seen someone drown before..."

Dean sighed and reached out to touch her shoulder, "Vinnie... You can't save 'em all, we all did our best. Without you we probably wouldn't have figured out what was going on in time. We saved that kid and his mom. You did good." Vinnie chewed on her lower lip, something had to have been up. Both Sam and Dean picked up on it. Vinnie wasn't in her normal cheery, sarcastic, optimistic mood.

Dean gave her shoulder a squeeze, "You're all good, Vinnie." She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, "Right..."

Those same pale blue eyes were sad and tired, no matter how much she tried to hide it...
