Present Day...

Dean approached his father, and the two hugged.

Sam kept an arm around Vinnie, keeping her supported and steady. Vinnie simply watched Dean and John hug, a look of shock on her face.

Sam helped Vinnie walk forward towards John, then passed her off to Dean.

"Hi, Sam." John said, smiling slightly at his son.

"Hi, dad..." Sam replied in a whisper.

"Dad, it was a trap. I didn't know, I'm sorry." Dean said, helping Vinnie get situated in a nearby chair.

"It's alright, I thought it might've been." John replied.

"Were you there?" Dean asked.

John nodded, "I got there just in time to see the girl take the swan dive. She was the bad guy, right?"

"Yes, sir." Sam and Dean both said, at the same time.

Gaining a soft, pained chuckle from Vinnie.

John turned his attention to Vinnie, giving the girl a soft smile. "Look at you, all grown up."

"That's usually what happens." Vinnie murmured, gently adjusting herself in her seat.

John let out a soft chuckle, "Hunting now, huh?"

She nodded, "Have been. Since I left Kansas when I was 18."

"Vinnie's a psychic, dad. She's been helping us out." Dean cut in, placing a hand on Vinnie's shoulder.

"A psychic, huh?" John said, taking a step forward. "That's a pretty intense ability, how are you handling it?"

"Fine." Vinnie replied, a bit off-put by his questioning. Why wouldn't she be fine? She was plenty capable of handling herself.

Dean's grip tightened slightly on her shoulder.

"Well, I should be going. I've got a demon to kill afterall and it knows I'm here." John told them.

"Let us come with you, we can help." Sam said.

John shook his head, "No. I don't want you caught in the crossfire. I don't want you hurt."

"You don't have to worry about us." Sam pleaded.

"Of course I do." John replied, "I'm your father." He told Sam. "Listen, Sammy, the last time we were together we had one hell of a fight."

Vinnie had heard about that fight, Sam had mentioned something about it one night while they were in a bar a month or two ago.

"Yes sir..." Sam mumbled, quietly.

"It's good to see you again... It's been a long time." John said.

Sam nodded, "Too long."

John pulled Sam in for a hug. Vinnie smiled softly, seeing some kind of reunion between the two.

Then John pulled away and was suddenly tossed backwards towards the cabinets in the motel room.

This was followed by the trio getting thrown and attacked by an unseen force. The daevas once again.

Sam acted fast and picked up some sort of torch, which he lit up and it lit the entire room up with light, scaring away the daevas.

A smoke emitted from the torch, quickly filling up the room. Vinnie began coughing, Moth ran up to her and she quickly scooped the cat up in her arms.

Eventually, the group of four were able to get out of the room. Vinnie hacked and coughed as she limped out of the room, her hand on her torn up side.

They all made their way outside of the building and down towards the Impala.

Vinnie made her way to the back of the car and laid down, Moth sat down on her chest.

It was right after she laid down that she slowly began to lose consciousness, she could hear muffled arguing from outside of the car, which soon faded to nothing as everything went dark.

-

Vinnie woke up in the hospital, looking up at the light colored ceiling.  She carefully propped herself up on her elbows, looking around the room.

Sam and Dean were both sitting in chairs in the corner of the room, Moth was asleep on Dean's lap.

Both of the boys were sleeping, but luckily had any cuts and wounds patched up, likely by the hospital staff.

Vinnie looked to her right and saw a cup of water next to her, she reached for it and took a sip.

It was then that Dean began to stir, immediately he set Moth onto Sam's lap and went over to Vinnie.

"Hey, babe-" He paused, "Is it-- Can I call you, babe...?" He asked, gently tracing her cheek with his thumb.

Vinnie smiled weakly and nodded, "I'd love it if you called me that..." She said softly, leaning into his touch.

Dean smirked down at her, then took a seat on the edge of the hospital bed, "How you feeling? Do you need anything?"

"I'm fine," She said, "Just a bit sore, other than that I'm good. How about you and Sam, you guys holding up alright?"

Dean nodded, chuckling, "We're good. Don't worry about us."

Vinnie nodded and looked at her right wrist, realizing it was wrapped up. She looked at Dean, hoping for an answer.

"Sprained," He replied, taking her hand to his lips and giving it a gentle kiss. "Why don't you get some more sleep, hun."

Vinnie nodded, laying back down carefully. Dean held her hand, gently rubbing his thumb over the top of her hand.

It didn't take long for Vinnie to fall back asleep, the major blood loss had her extremely exhausted.

Dean watched her for a while, all he ever wanted to do was make sure she was safe and cared for. One of those he could do, the other one he wasn't so sure about. Hunting was no easy feat, it was dangerous.

But, Vinnie was strong. Stronger than Dean gave her credit for, he knew that now. She held her ground in front of Meg, despite Meg's threats to kill her. She was able to get that shard of glass and cut herself and Dean free from their restraints. Then, was able to make it back to the motel with those giant gashes in her side.

Dean was proud of her, proud of how strong she'd become. He loved her.

-

A week went by and Vinnie was finally able to leave the hospital, she got off with a few permanent scars and sprained wrist, but other than that she was perfectly fine. If anything, even better now that her and Dean were somewhat of an item.

She limped out the hospital doors to see the Impala waiting for her. Dean was leaning against the hood of the car and quickly got up to run over to her, he embraced Vinnie in a hug, pressing a kiss to her cheek.

Sam approached the two, holding Moth in his arms. "So, I was right." He said, chuckling.

"Right about what?" Dean asked, turning to face him with an arm around Vinnie's shoulders.

"You two." Sam replied, pointing at the two of them with one hand, holding the cat with the other.

"I dunno what you're talking about." Dean said, leading Vinnie towards the car and helping her get into the passenger's seat. Then they all got settled, Moth climbed onto Vinnie's lap and Dean started the car.

"Where to?" Vinnie asked, looking at Dean.

"We'll see wherever the cases take us." He replied.

And with that, he drove off. Rain softly pattering on the roof of the Impala.
