CHAPTER SEVENTY-SEVEN
HOSPITAL ROOMS
Kimmy woke up hours later in a hospital bed. Feeling rather disoriented as it took her slightly longer than she'd like to admit for her senses to come to her.
The only thing she could focus on for a moment was the pain pulsing through her, it hadn't even occurred to her yet how she had actually ended up in the small hospital room.
Everything was hurting, it causing the girl more pain to breathe than she'd expected.
Still slightly confused as she waited for her thoughts to catch up to her actions, the girl glanced down. Surprised to find one of her hands and arms covered in wires, attaching the girl to a machine that left Kimmy puzzled on what its actual purpose was.
The girl also noticed that the white cast covered in signatures that had once been on her other forearm was gone. Replaced with a new cast, one that went all the way past her elbow that required a sling to keep her arm steady.
Kimmy knew there would be bruises and cuts all over her, she was already dreading catching a glimpse of her reflection and accidentally seeing the state she would no doubt be in. But she hadn't expected the man to have caused enough harm to break her arm further. Perhaps it had happened after she'd passed out, or maybe the pills kicking in numbed the pain for her in the moment.
Glancing to the side in hope to see what exactly it was she was hooked up to, she only found herself doing a double take and furrowing her brows. Aaron was sat rather uncomfortably in one of the chairs next to her bed, the boy sound asleep.
Kimmy's expression was unmoving, her mind a blurry mess. Everything moving in slow motion while also feeling like she was on a rollercoaster at the same time.
The brunette could feel her heart rate pick up upon catching sight of dried blood as well as vomit on his shirt. She soon realised that both of these substances had come from her. And if she'd known Aaron, he would have had a fit at having his own blood or vomit on him - never mind someone else's. It puzzled her that he had yet to change, seemingly having kept the shirt on long enough for it to dry.
Perhaps he had been too worried to even notice, if Kimmy had caught Aaron in the state she presumed he had caught her in she would be worried too.
As if on instinct, she frowned, turning her head slowly only to find the older brother of the sandy haired blond on the other side of her bed. Steve too asleep on his own uncomfortable chair.
Kimmy was taken aback at the sight of the older boy, not realising she meant enough to him for Steve to have stayed in the hospital room with her. She made a mental note to thank him once he was awake.
Kimmy had no idea what time it was, but she knew it had to be late.
Suddenly, it was as if her body reminded her why she'd awoken so abruptly in the first place. Despite the pain, she began to cough uncontrollably. Not necessarily loudly, but in contrast to the once deadly silent room, it sounded drastically louder in the girls mind.
Every part of her chest and throat began to hurt horrendously at the harsh coughs that refused to falter. The girl then began to gag, squeezing her eyes closed as a strong feeling of nausea came crashing over her and dragged down on her stomach. As if to only just then remember what effects would come after the amount of pills she'd taken, she knew she'd just have to tough it out until it passed.
She'd done it to herself.
Despite vomiting earlier, it was clear her stomach hadn't been entirely emptied. Even if her stomach had been empty, she was pretty sure after an overdose on pills she'd be nauseas anyway.
