CHAPTER NINETY-TWO
HIDING
Aaron was evidently a nervous wreck while in Steve's car. For more reasons than one.
Although Steve's lack of concern for safety seemed to be the top concern on his list, despite the fact they were all on their way to seek out a suspected murderer.
"I just think you should know, Steve, that I think it's really shallow of you to do this." The blond rambled on, crossing his arms firmly over his chest as he looked out the window to his left with a scowl etched onto his features. "In fact, not shallow- it is unbelievable of you to enable this."
"Oh, my god. Shut up, would you?" Steve scoffed from the driver seat. "You're fifteen years old, if you had such a problem with me driving you should have taken the bus, I wouldn't have stopped you-"
"The bus?" Aaron exclaimed with a horrified expression, his voice cracking due to a mix of offence and surprise. "The bus? Really, Steve? You know why I don't take the bus, there are about a billion diseases I could catch from sitting down on a seat alone."
Kimmy watched as Steve shook his head disapprovingly, mumbling something under his breath while placing a hand to his mouth.
"Aaron, I will never drive you anywhere ever again." The older boy snapped, the entire car silent beside the two bickering brothers. "Stop whining."
Kimmy felt the blond next to her flinch violently, snapping his body away from the window and breaking his protest against his brother. The brunette leaned her head back and closed her eyes, already sick of the two brothers.
"I am not whining!" The younger brother quite literally whined.
Moving to turn around to face the window once more before remembering a point he hadn't made and abruptly jumping back up to motion to his brother with his finger. "And another thing, I don't have a problem with you driving, I have a problem chasing after some load of drug dealers and wanted murderers, while violating every code of safety in existence! It is completely outrageous for the four of us to be in the backseat like this! I'm the only one wearing a seatbelt for godsakes-"
"Maybe you should go in the trunk, Aaron!" Max exclaimed with a faux look of bewilderment, leaning over Kimmy to talk. "That way, we can all sit comfortably, and we get peace and quiet!"
Kimmy rolled her eyes at Max's words as she watched Aaron snap his irked gaze from his brother onto Kimmy's best friend, knowing an argument would break out between the two.
"Or maybe we can leave you at the side of the road to make room?" Aaron scoffed, rolling his eyes at her before looking away and leaning his head back against his seat while he continued to complain.
"Imagine what people will think of us if we end up dead in a ditch? Jesus, we'll be shamed. Skipping out on work? Four kids crammed on top of each other in the backseat of a weirdos car?" Aaron was practically yelling now, his hands placed over his eyes while he continued to panic. "A car full of kids on the way to a drug dealers house? We are done for!"
Kimmy sighed, reaching up to take Aaron's hands away from his face. "Aaron, why have you got it into your head that we are all going to crash into a ditch?"
The blond scoffed, shaking his head at her while motioning to his older brother. "I'm just being realistic, Kimmy."
"Hardly." The girl muttered, Steve humming in agreement.
