Hwang Hyunjin

I pressed the doorbell, holding his hand. I knew he was nervous about this. We had been dating for six months and he had never met my parents. I had only ever met his parents once, this was a couple of months after dating. Him meeting mine was something that we just hadn’t gotten round to doing yet due to us both being busy with work. My parents understood, but I knew that they wanted to meet the boy I had been talking about non-stop.

I glanced over at Hyunjin, who had a nervous expression on his face. I kissed his cheek, causing him to look over at me. I gave my boyfriend a reassuring smile. I knew my parents were going to love him. How could they not? He made me happy and isn’t that what any parents want for their child?

“y/n! You’re finally home!” My mum was the one who opened the door.

“Hi, mum!” I let go of Hyunjin’s hand to hug my mother.

My mother hugged me tightly.

We started talking, they asked Hyunjin about himself. He answered their questions the best that he could. I was a little glad that they hadn’t asked what he did for a job. He wouldn’t be able to tell them that he was part of an idol group. They would not be pleased, especially my dad.

My mother soon announced that it was time for dinner. We made our way to the dining room. All throughout that meal, my parent, Hyunjin and I made small talk. It was nice to see Hyunjin getting along with my parents. We were a close family, I saw a future with Hyunjin and it was important that my boyfriend and my parents were civil with each other.

After dinner, Hyunjin helped my father clean the dishes. Even though my dad refused his help, Hyunjin still helped. I was in the dining room, clearing away the table. The kitchen door was closed so I couldn’t hear anything of what they talked about in there, which was annoying.

“Hyunjin seems like a really nice boy, y/n.” My mother smiled at me.

I nodded, smiling, looking down at the table.

y/n’s father and I cleaned the dishes in silence. When he shut the door to the dining room, I thought he was probably going to tell me that he didn’t approve of me dating y/n and wanted me to break up with his daughter. I was ready to beg him to give me a chance.

“I think you are very good for my daughter. y/n seems very happy with you and that’s all I want. I hope that you will be a good husband to her one day. She deserves to be happy and treated well. You have my blessing.” y/n’s father looked at me and smiled.

“T-Thank you, Mr Lee… I try to make her happy. I love your daughter a lot. Thank you for your blessing. One day, we will get married, but not yet. We’ve only been together for six months.” I blushed, smiling.

Her father just smiled and continued to clean the dishes. I was so happy that he approved of me. I couldn’t wait to tell y/n when we were on our way back to the dorms. All I wanted to was to make her happy. Being an idol meant that I had to stay back late most days. y/n said she understood, but I still felt bad. I loved her so much. Having her father’s blessing was just a dream. I knew that y/n was close to her parents.

It was soon time for us to leave. We had been at y/n’s parent's house for a few hours now. y/n and I said our farewells to her parents. She hugged both of them. Her mother even hugged me. We left the house and went to y/n’s car. Her parents stood by the door to see us off. I opened the door for her and got in my side. y/n and I waved to them as we drove off.

“That went well, Jinne. They love you.” y/n smiled at me.

“I know, baby. Your father even gave me his blessing for me to marry you.” I blushed.

y/n said nothing but just smiled. We drove back to the dorms in comfortable silence. I couldn’t wait to tell the members all about today.

One day I was going to marry her. I saw a future with her. I saw us having a little family of our own. y/n was my person and I couldn’t imagine life without her. She made me the happiest man alive. She had changed me into a better person and I was thankful to have her.
