Chapter 5:

As I walked back into my home, I spotted everyone already sitting at the dining room table enjoying their breakfast. I unleashed Sparks and he ran off.

"Sophia, is that you?" my mother yelled.

"Yeah, it is," I yelled back.

I went to the dining room and greeted the both of my parents with kisses on their cheeks. Katilyn rolled her eyes and I stuck my tongue out at her. She was always looking for a play fight when it came to me. I went into the kitchen and grabbed a pop-tart. I quickly devoured it and then headed up to my room. I took my phone off the charger and called Crystal.

"Hello?" said a sleep filled Crystal.

"I'm sorry were you sleeping?"

"No I was just about ready to jump off a cliff!" She said sarcastically.

"My bad. So you coming to the music festival today?"

"Of course I am!"

"Great! I'm going to make brownies for the food table. What are you going to bring?"

"Obviously potato salad. My mom is going to make it so it's going to taste like heaven."

"Cool. Did you find something to wear yet?"

"Nah, not yet. Hey, I gotta let you go for now but I'll see you later."

"Okay, bye."

She hung up and I went downstairs to get started on making the brownies. When I got to the bottom of the stairs, I saw Katilyn texting on the couch with her legs on the coffee table.

"Comfortable?"

She jumped and dropped her phone in the process. I raised an eye brow at her and she gave me one of her famous bitch glares. She hated when I snuck up on her. I ignored her glare and went to the kitchen to start on my brownies.

An hour later my creation was done, so I headed upstairs to get ready for the festival. I showered and got dressed. Then I curled my hair and applied light make up. I looked in the mirror and was satisfied with my reflection.

My natural dark blonde hair was straight and curled at the ends. The make up I put on made my hazel eyes stand out even more and my lips were blood red to top it all off. I smiled at myself. I felt confident, beautiful, and different. A good different

I headed downstairs and greeted my parents.

"Sweetie, you look so beautiful!" My mom squealed.

"I agree with your mother you look stunning." My dad said.

"Thanks," I mumbled.

"Katilyn, are you ready?" I yelled.

There was no response so I marched upstairs to call her again. Once I got there I banged in her door impatiently.

"Hello! Are you coming or not?"

"Hold your horses princess," she said dramatically.

I glanced at my watch angrily. It was nearly 4:00 and I didn't want to miss any of the bands.

Two minutes later, Katilyn stepped out of her room and graced me with her presence.

"It's about damh time."

For a pain in the ass she looked great. She wore a black t-shirt with the words ' Stare much?' on it, a pair of denim shorts and a pair of TOMS shoes. She had her long blonde hair in a French braid that made her look absolutely stunning.

"Wow, sis I hate to admit it but you look great!" I teased.

I instantly regretted my words when she replied,

"Don't I?"

I internally groaned. I should've known better than to boost her ego. Now she would be flaunting her looks everywhere.

"Ok, lets go princess Katilyn. I don't want to miss when Bruno Mars gets on stage.

"Fine, lets go!"

I grabbed my phone and the two trays of brownies and headed for the door

"Bye, mom and dad!" We shouted in unison.

We made our way to Katliyn's car. She drove a 2012 black Honda civic. She got it as a birthday present from my parents since they couldn't give her a party. We both got inside and buckled up.

I turned on the radio and the song 'Live your life' by Rihanna popped on. We were driving calmly when the car stopped. I looked out the window and didn't recognize the place. We were no where near the music festival. I looked at Katliyn with a confused expression on my face.

"Why'd we stop?" I asked.

"There's traffic," she explained.

I threw my hands in the air.

"Are you serious!?"

"Does it look like I'm kidding? Why don't you have a look for yourself?" She said smartly.

I looked straight ahead and then got even madder. Then my anger turned on Katilyn.

"If you would've prepared yourself earlier we wouldn't have been here in the first place," I mumbled.

She ignored my comment an kept her eyes on the road. After 20 minutes, things began to clear up and we were back to driving towards the music festival.
