Chapter 11:

While I was walking I didn't know I was crying until I looked down saw a trail of my tears. I decided to skip my history class because I wanted to avoid questions. So I sat on staircase leading to the cafeteria.

I brought my face to my hands and cried my eyes out. I know hI sound all emotional and weak but I couldn't help it. I was incredibly shy when it came to other strangers and I get completely flustered when people start to stare at me. It's always been a fear of mine because Im afraid of people judging me. I don't know how but the girls who wrote the stupid note knew about most of my insecurities. I felt vulnerable and humiliated.

Then I felt a hand on my shoulder, I looked up and saw Harvey.

"Hey, what's wrong Sophia?"

"Nothing," I mumbled.

"Obviously something is wrong otherwise you'd have a smile on your face or least be in class,"

"It's nothing Harvey, you don't have to worry about me just go back to class."

"No, I want to worry about you plus class ended 2 minutes ago so I recommend finishing this conversation in the lunch room."

"Ok, let's go."

He put an arm around my shoulder and led me to the cafeteria. We were late comers so all eyes were on us as we made our way to our usual table. The thought of more than 50 kids staring at me made me slightly nauseous. Harvey must've sensed this because he pulled me in closer and told me "Just ignore them."

"Hey, what happened to you! You look like you got hit by a truck" Crystal said.

"Thanks that's exactly what I want to hear right now," I replied sarcastically.

"Come on let's go to the bathroom and i'll fix you up."

"So what exactly happened?" She asked.

I pulled out the note from my bag and handed it to her. She gasped and then pulled me in for a hug. I was kind of reluctant but after a few seconds I gave in.

"Don't believe them, okay? They're just jealous about how gorgeous you look and have nothing better to do with their lives."

"Thank you, Crystal you alway know how to cheer me up."

She smiled at me and said,"No problem, now let me fix your make up."

She wiped off all the black smears on my face with a small sponge, dabbed on some foundation and applied waterproof mascara (just in case the tears threatened to spill again).

"Done!" she announced.

When I looked in the mirror I realized I looked better than when I left my house this morning. My reflection looked flawless. When it came to make up Crystal was a artist. I opened my arms and said "Come give Sophie some sugar" in a grandma tone.
