*RIIIING*

The morning bell rang throughout the hallways, prompting the students to flood the halls heading to their first class of the day. Noah and Nyla leave the cafeteria and head to their lockers. Even though their lockers are right next to each other's, they don't have any classes together, so they like to brief each other before they head to home room.

"So what classes do you have today?" Nyla asks her sister.

"Space science, Gym, World History, and Chorus. You?"

"Art, English, Geometry, and Band. Can't believe they gave me math for third period. What lunch do you have today?" Nyla closes her locker, following behind her sister since their classes are in the same hallway.

"C lunch. You have B lunch right?"

"Yup. Damn, we really don't see each other at all?"

"I guess not. What'd mommy pack for lunch? I hope it's leftover lasagna from dinner last night."

"I'm not sure but mama got those gummies we like, so I know she packed those and I think some cheese and crackers too." Nyla readjusted her backpack in her locker.

"Ooo finally. Hopefully Nyx doesn't eat all of the gummies like last time." Noah shakes her head at the thought of her little brother.

"I know right? It's almost like he inhaled them. This is my class though, see you after school! Love you!"

"Love you too!" the twins do their secret handshake before heading into their respective classes.

First up for Noah: Space Science. Something she's grown to love over the years thanks to the nights she, her mama, and her siblings would sit outside stargazing for hours. The only downside to this class is that she didn't know anyone, at least not for long.

On the first day, she was assigned a seat at a table with Quentin, April, and Jaden. They all got along pretty well, especially when they discovered they share lots of classes together throughout their schedules. Nyla figured she'd stick with these three since she and her sister couldn't be attached at the hip.

"Hey Noah! Did you do the homework? We were just talking about our answers." April pulled out her green science folder, and found her worksheet.

"Hey, and yeah! I was confused on the one that asked us to convert light years to miles." Noah answered.

"Same here, I think that was the math part Mr.Stevens was talking about on Monday. Q said he had the answer for that one." Jaden spoke up.

"Yeah I got it! I just went old school and multiplied the conversion rate by the number of light years in the problem and got it." Q flipped his page around to show everyone his answer.

"Cool, that's what I got too." Noah said, proud of herself. She always did excel in her science and math classes.

"Do you guys wanna make a group chat? We can help each other out after school." Jaden asked.

"That's a good idea. Plus, we have that first quarter project we have to do as a group. We can start early on that too." April pulled out her phone, everyone followed. They all exchanged numbers and Noah made the group chat.

"Alright everyone settle down!" Mr.Stevens walked into the classroom and sat at his desk. "Let's get into our seats and get started on the entrance ticket. Then, we'll go over the homework. Don't worry if you got a lot of questions wrong, it's just to get a baseline of what you know so I know how to teach and offer you guys help where you need it, alright?"
