tw: panic attack

"IVE BEEN COLLECTING RECORDINGS." gracie said, nestling close to aurora.

a few days had passed and the girls were back in LA. gracie had spent some time with hayes when she got back after his constant calling, giving gracie the opportunity to make voice memos.

"really?" aurora replied softly, stroking gracie's arm with her fingertips, leaning her head on her right hand.

"mhm," gracie hummed. "but hes also coming to the next shows in denver. you guys are going to have to hang out in the tent." gracie said, auroras face immediately dropping.
"yay. i love hanging out with hayes. what a great guy, right?" aurora joked.

"i'm sorry, rory," gracie said, squeezing aurora's hand."these past few days have been really stressful, actually." she confessed. aurora felt gracie's body sink into the mattress.

"are you okay, cie?" aurora asked, planting a kiss on gracie's collarbone.

"i don't really know. i feel okay right now, especially because you're with me, and the eras tour and everything great i have, but sometimes i get in my own head," gracie confessed. aurora felt gracie's muscles loosen up. she ran her fingers down her arm again and grabbed gracie's hand.

"mhm," aurora rested her head on gracie's shoulder.

"you really help me, you know? you distract me from everything that fucking sucks, everything that's upsetting. obviously, rory, you're so much more than that, but, you just get me," gracie spilled.

"i'm glad i can be there for you cie." aurora said, gracie turning her body to lie on her back, looking to aurora.

aurora leaned over gracie, kissing her softly. gracie touched her face, brushing her thumb over auroras cheeks.

aurora disconnected, gracie looking into auroras eyes. a comfortable silence fell over them, the last few moments of light in the day pouring into the window.

"i lov-" gracie started, quickly stopping herself. she couldn't. what if she didn't love her back? questions raced through gracie's mind as the 'l' word began to slip from her mouth.

"i..?" aurora asked, not hearing gracie almost slip 'love' out of her mouth.

"uh, nothing. nothing." gracie stuttered, using aurora's thigh as support to sit up in her bed. she crossed her legs with a smile, looking at aurora.

"if you say so." aurora smiled, kissing gracie's cheek and getting out of bed.

"wait." gracie said, grabbing auroras wrist. "uh..." gracie started, looking into her lap.

aurora looked to gracie in concern, her cheeks bright pink. her fingers drummed on her knee. "gracie," aurora began, sitting back in bed next to gracie. "what's wrong?"

gracie looked up to her, and looked down at her wrist, looking back up to aurora again with pitiful eyes. "gracie." aurora said sternly.

gracie shut her eyes and sighed deeply, a single tear rolling down her cheek as she looked to her wrist again. aurora gently placed her fingers on her wrist, gracie wincing slightly.

she pulled up gracie's long sleeve, revealing splotches of red and yellow tainting gracie's wrist.

aurora's heart clenched at the sight. this bruise was much more severe than the last, concern and anger welling inside of her. she gently ran her fingers over it, hoping that her touch would do something, anything to make her feel better.

gracie's eyes were wired shut, looking into her lap as she tried to control her breathing. "he..." gracie started. "he did it again, aurora." her voice was barely above a whisper.
