The Rookie - Lost

Part 6

That night, Lucy cleaned the house. It was really quiet, too quiet. Lucy wasn't use to this, but it gave her a chance to actually set up the room for the girls. She was happy to be able to set it up properly. 

Angela and Nyla texted her on their group chat, which Angela made.

Text message: Triple Threat

Angela: Hey girls, I made this groupchat for us. Lucy, how is it without the kids with you?

Lucy: It's different, so quiet. But this is my chance to set the girls room up.

Nyla: Need any help, I'm not busy so I can help if you want?

Angela: Same here

Lucy: Are you girls sure?

Angela: 100%

Nyla: Hell yeah

Lucy: Ok, lets do this

Angela and Nyla quickly drove over to Lucy's apartment. They knocked on the door and Lucy opened it up. They all worked hard to finish the room and they hang out for a bit before the girl had to head home. Lucy thanked them for everything and they left. Lucy ate some food before having a shower then going to bed.

Tim, arrived home with the girls. He helped them out of his truck. Abby looked at her father and put her arms up.

Abby: "Daddy up, plwse."

Tim: "Of course sweetie. Jackie do you want to jump on my back."

Jackie: "No thanks, can I hold you hand instead?" Tim nodded, taking his daughter's hand. They walked to the door and Tim opened it, walking in then closing it again. He takes the girls to the living room.

Tim: "Okay, sweeties. I don't know how your night routine works with your mum. So can you help me out. Also I don't have a room set up so you'll have to sleep with me for the night until I can fully set up a room for you guys."

Jackie: "After we talk, can you take use on a tour?" Tim nods.

Jackie: "So we have dinner, then go for a shower/bath, mum then told us a story about you before we go to bed. We also need to check Abby's glucose level at some point. I need to point out that Abby normally sleeps with mum, because of some past things."

Tim: "Ok, let's go on the tour." Tim shows the girls his house, remembering that Kojo was in the house. They sat on the couch together.

Tim: "Oh, by the way I hope you girls like dogs. I have one. Kojo come." The girls were a bit excited, Kojo came running to Tim. He saw the girls and got excited. Jackie and instantly cuddling up to him the way that Lucy does. Abby was a little unsure and which Kojo picked up on that.

Tim: "Abby, it's okay. He won't hurt you, I promise. I'll put you on the ground now." Tim put her down, Kojo slowly approached her and Tim had his hands on her back supporting her. Kojo continue to slowly approach before he stopped in front of her, he brought his head closer to her and gently nuzzled his nose on her. She slowly moved her hand to her head and patted him. Abby took a few steps away from Tim and cuddled Kojo, she sat down on the floor and Kojo played his head on her lap, she stayed cuddled against Kojo.

Jackie: "He really make her happy. He is going to be good for her."

Tim (to Jackie): "If it's okay with your mum, we can get you your own dog."

Jackie: "Thanks dad. I'm happy to see her this happy."

Tim: "What do you mean?"

Jackie: "People have been so mean to her, it sucks watching it happen. Then with her levels going high and low, she doesn't always have the energy to have fun. Mum and I have always been taking care of her, she has become really attached to mum and I. I just want to see her happy."

Tim: "Oh Jackie, that sounds hard on you guys. I'm here to help you and your mum. You girls are my daughter and I promise to care for you a lot."

Jackie: "Thanks dad. I'm also worried about mum."

Tim: "What? Is she okay?"

Jackie: "All I remember is that she struggled. She always loved us and made sure that we had everything, but she made sacrifices. After we all went to bed, I woke up and heard her cry nearly every night. One night, she was on the phone and it was a heated conversation."

Tim: "She never told any of us. I can't believe that she struggled so much."

Jackie: "It became harder, when Abby was in hospital a few times. We couldn't get her glucose levels under control and ended up taking her to the hospital. Mum was exhausted, she had to take time off work to care for Abby. I mean she did a bit of work at home but then was tending to Abby."

Tim: "Okay, thank you for letting me know. You're not going to be in trouble but I need to have a talk to your mum." They hug. Abby starts to giggle.

Abby: "I love Kojo. I want to have a dog."

Tim: "He's apart of the family, so he is yours and your sister. But seeing how much he is helping you, he can be your dog and we can always get a dog for Jackie."

Abby: "Can he come with us tomorrow?"

Tim: "Of course he can." They end up having dinner and then Tim helped the girls shower. 

They all get ready for bed. Tim was in the middle of both of the girls.

Abby: "Dad, can Kojo sleep with us?"

Tim: "Of course, Kojo here." Kojo jumped up on the bed and laid down.

Tim: "Ok girls, time to go to bed. Night girls."

The girls: "Night dad, love you." Tim was taken back, he didn't think that the girls would say that to him after just meeting him. He wrapped an arm around each girl and brought them close.

Tim: "I love you both too." They fell asleep.
