BROKEN, BRUISED, AND confused were all of the words that came to Natalia's mind if she were to describe her current state. It felt like hell on earth trying to act like she was okay even when she felt like she could crawl out of her skin. Her heart was always in a constant state of disarray, and her mind felt empty.

Despite all of her mental problems, she still showed her face at school. Her and Alex stood beside one another in the hall. She watched as cops walked the school's halls and eyes students suspiciously.

"Steroids? I mean, really? How many of these jocks really need it? They're already crazy huge and muscular as is," Natalia commented as she mindlessly scrolled on her phone. She didn't catch the face Alex made.

"You'd be surprised. Nobody's who they say they are," Alex said making Natalia look up from her phone.

NATALIA MINDED HER own business as she quietly drank a mocha latte at a table in Monet's. Justin was working and his eyes occasionally glanced at her. Her blue eyes gazed helplessly at his when Clay walked in. He definitely sold her out, and she knew it was true when Clay shot a look at Justin.

"Jesus Christ, and I thought you two couldn't be more close. Now you're bonding over stalking me," Natalia murmured and Clay rolled his eyes, sitting in front of her. "I'm not in the mood for small talk, so tell me why you're here."

He sighed and pulled a red pouch from his hoodie pocket. Natalia raised a brow as she seen it.

"These are Alex's," he told her as he unzipped the bag. He opened it a small crack and showed her what was inside it.

She swallowed hard as she digested the contents of the bag. She tilted her head and pushed his hand away. Her blood heated as their skin met.

"The steroids in Bryce's car," Natalia whispered as she put the pieces together. "Did he sell to Alex? Was he like his dealer?"

"We think so, but we can't be sure. Ani supposed to come here and help me figure more stuff out," Clay shared as his eyes flickered up from her coffee to her eyes.

"Okay, well, if you need any help..."

"You'll be my first call, Nat," Clay replied with sincerity. He rose and left the table as Ani walked in they approached Winston, a new student.

Natalia didn't know what Clay and Ani were up to, but she wished for nothing than Clay to do it all safely.

NATALIA UNSUSPECTEDLY LOOKED up at the passing figure. Montgomery de la Cruz. He sat down beside the blonde and twirled a strand of her hair in between his fingers. She squirmed away from them. The library was quiet and hardly anyone was there.

He had a reason to come and talk to her. She knew it.

"Your little boyfriend and his side piece came over," Montgomery muttered as his fingers began to flip through the papers she'd been looking at. He took them and slid them off the table, floating about as they hit the floor.

"What do you want, asshole?" Natalia asked as she began to stand. Monty's iron grip clamped her wrist.
A small gasp escaped her lips, but inevitably, she sat down once again.

"Tell him to back the fuck off," He growled lowly.

Natalia's lip twitched at his tone, her heart slowly picking up pace worriedly.

"He isn't my boyfriend and Ani isn't his side piece," Natalia whispered angrily, rising from her spot.

"Oh, so she's the girlfriend," Montgomery called after her as she stormed off.

Rage coursed her whole being. Monty had a way of terrorizing people. He always has. Even when they were together, even when he opened up the smallest bit, he ruined it by starting an argument out of nothing.

It was no secret Monty was abused by his father, but that never meant he had any right mentally abusing Natalia, or being a dick to people who didn't deserve it.

Her mind went straight to her safe haven.

Natalia knew exactly where to find Clay. At his locker, his face buried in his phone. He didn't even notice Natalia at first, staring at him, prying at his face.

"Someone text you something good?" Natalia quizzed and he looked up from his phone.

"Justin and I were just trying to find your location. It turns out, you're right in front of me," Clay joked and despite everything, Natalia couldn't help but laugh.

"I'm sorry for being such a heinous bitch," Natalia apologized and Clay shrugged.

"You're not a heinous bitch," Clay replied truthfully.

"I'm sorry for being a jealous bitch," Natalia reiterated.

"Jealous? Why have you been jealous?" Clay asked, he face contorting with confusion.

"Clay, I'm a girl, and when I see someone pretty, smart, and kind talk to you, I get a little jealous," Natalia admitted and Clay blinked at her. "God, is there a brain up there?"

"You're jealous of Ani being with me?" Clay quizzed.

"Clay," Natalia whispered. Her eyes pleaded, hoping she didn't have to say the words dreaded.

Clay's face gained some sort of recognition.

"Nat, I... you never have to be jealous about her and I," Clay told her. She'd been the person who analyzed them. She delicately picked the pair apart, all of their gestures and stares. It was all very obvious to Ani.

Natalia stared into his eyes longingly.

"It all feels better when you're around. Everything. When you're out of my life... the nightmares get worse, my anxiety is through the roof, and I miss you," Clay confessed. His hand gently grabbed Natalia's. It was cold, her heart pounded nervously in her chest.

The halls were deserted at this point. Just Clay and Natalia.

This is how she always wanted to remember them. In alliance. Them against the world. That's how it would always be. Forever and always.
