NATALIA WALKED THE halls, bitterly eyeing all of the Valentine's day decorations. Love wasn't something she wanted to see or feel right now. She didn't want to see or think about it. Her insides were numb. She loved Clay, but she had to suppress it and pretend that love didn't exist.

When lunch time rolled around, Natalia was fairly tired. She scrolled on social media for a minute, but she couldn't get into it. She people watched, finding Clay who'd been talking to Zach from across the room. He shoved Zach.

Zach began to walk away until he landed a couple blows on Clay. It was inconspicuous for the most part, but Natalia noticed. What was he doing? Was he on a suicide mission.

Natalia stood from her spot and made her way over to Clay who hung up with whoever was on the phone. She hovered above him, looking down on him worriedly.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?" Natalia asked as Clay panted due to the pain. He rolled his eyes and began to her up, falling into her. "Jesus Christ."

"Someone has Monty's phone," Clay whispered in a pained grunt, straightening up. "They say they have evidence."

Natalia furrowed her eyebrows and looked up at him. She gave him a fleeting glance and walked off. What kind of evidence did they have? Were their tracks not covered well enough?

She walked around aimlessly. She didn't know who she would run into, and she didn't care. Natalia did not want to be in there, dealing with Clay. But isn't that what she was supposed to do? Clay helped pick up the pieces for her so many times. Shouldn't she be doing the same?

IT WASN'T UNTIL the next day that Natalia really knew how deep Clay's troubles had been going when Justin pulled her aside in the hall. It started off how it always did, some playful banter, and laughter. But when the conversation turned into Clay, they both seemed serious.

"Yeah, I don't know, he doesn't get sleep. He stopped cleaning his room. He's paranoid as hell, and he stopped seeing you," Justin listed just a few of the things that ticked him off.

"It's like his mind is always elsewhere," Natalia told Justin worriedly. He doesn't know anything about anything unless it involves crazy shit. Worried was an understatement.

"Hey, don't worry too much. He'll be fine. I'll keep an eye on him for you. I know things have been weird," Justin assured her and she shook her head. Things have been weird, so how does she make it stop? This never ending stop and go drive Natalia insane.

SCHOOL DANCES DROVE Natalia insane. She came to socialize, but her usual group of friends were scattered all about. She didn't know what else to do, but drink the punch she'd spike and dance to shitty music. Her dress was a navy blue, she arrived a little late, so on her way in, she bumped into Clay going out.
