FOR NATALIA, SHE spent more time looking back on the past rather than the future. Doing that meant time went by quicker. She'd been in her senior year and her grades went to exceptional to average. Despite this, college was still in arms reach, Natalia just had to finish out strong.

College interviews were today. Natalia didn't have much of an idea of what she wanted to say, but she had a vague idea. With everything going on, she didn't know how to get her ducks in a row. It was irresponsible the way she'd been going about things, yet she couldn't help but worry about the details until last minute.

She sat in class, glancing at her phone for any word from Justin. He'd been her lifeline for the past few days. Clay had been stuck in some hospital and she knew he'd be scared.

In the halls, people eyed her. Judging her. It had gone around the school that Clay and Natalia had sex since someone overheard their conversation a couple days before the dreaded lockdown. She paid no mind to it. It stung, but at least this time it wasn't a rumor about Monty or Bryce. Maybe it would cover some other things up.

Turning the corner, Natalia found Ani. The girls immediately decided to approach one another. It had been a bit since they've talked and it was very much needed.

"Did you ever peer review Clay's college essay?" Ani asked, throwing Natalia off. She shook her head as Ani linked their arms, dragging them into a vacant classroom. "He wrote about covering up a murder."

Natalia furrowed her eyebrows. She didn't know about that. The blonde leaned toward Ani, trying to keep her voice down.

"How do you know?" Natalia quizzed worriedly. If he submitted it, there was only a matter of time before other people were to find out too.

"I went to his house to find him one day. I wanted to ask him about Tyler, it was before I'd left. His laptop was left open on the table and I just... the opening sentence was very catchy, let's just say that," Ani told her and Natalia nodded slowly, comprehending her words.

"So, what'd you do? Did you confront him?" Natalia questioned. Ani let out a sigh. It's like she was nervous about the information she was about to share.

"I didn't. He wasn't there. The door was unlocked, so... I took it upon myself to write a new essay," Ani said and Natalia widened her eyes. "And I submitted it."

"Why would he even write about that?" Natalia whispered, she felt like he wanted it to be out there. Like it was eating at his soul. Would be really be the one to betray all of them? Could Clay Jensen do that? "I think this whole situation is stressing him out."
