The air is cold and putrid. Box's and crates shove against each other. Meatal clangs against metal. The cage which entraps me moves fast, lights indicating the speed. Wind rushes against the walls.
As I stand, swaying as the cage does, I look around and above me. Then light seeps through the top suddenly and I am struggling to regain footing as it comes to a sudden stop.
I raise a hand above my eyes to protect myself form the glare. Someone or something opens the roof, and above me there are a dozen or so faces. all belong to boys. Teenagers. Some grubby, some clean. Heights and races varying. All of them stand side by side, watching me.
As a boy, who's dark skin and eye's tell me he can be no older than fifteen, jumps down next to me, I stumble backwards.
"Hey. Easy on." Say's the boy. "My names Alby. Can you remember yours?"
"No. I don't remember anything," I mumble, suddenly afraid of the emptiness in my head.
"It's okay. You'll get it back in a few days. it's the one thing they let us keep."
As Alby check's over all the things that were brought with me, I ask, "Who?"
"The creators. The ones who send up to box." Alby straightens the look at me "See that boy up there, the one with the curly ginger hair and green eyes? He'll explain everything, okay?"
Still unsure, I climb out of the thing I was sent up in and walk over to the Boy Alby said to see.
"Hello Greenie." The boy reaches out a hand for me to shake and pushes curls out of his eyes with the other.
Shaking his hand I ask, "Greenie?"
The boy laughs a little then says, "Come with me. I'll explain everything."
