Thirty

Zee ran from the entrance of the hospital towards the waiting area of of the operating theaters. He saw his mother sitting next to Fah

"Ma!" Zee shouted and ran towards them.

Fah immediately opened her arms and hugged Zee.

"Zee."
Fah silently said as he hugs Zee tight

"Maemae, what happened? Please tell me he's okay. Please tell me my Nunu is okay"
Zee said in a tiny voice.

Nerina stroked his back.
"Why dont we all sit down first"
She said to them.
Nerina lets Zee sit in between her and Fah.

"Mama, please tell me he's okay. Im begging you ma." Zee's eyes are about to cry. His heart wants to jump out of his chest

"According to the police, Nunew's car was bumped from behind as he drives over-pass. His wheels swiveled due to the heavy rain resulting in his car skidding and being over turned. He bumped into a concrete barrier. The car was upside down when the rescue arrived" Nerina explained

"But he's okay right? What did the doctors say?" Zee asked. He looked like a child begging answers.

"We dont know yet. The doctors said that he has bleeding on his brain and its very critical that he gets operated on quickly. He was in a bad shape Zee. My poor baby was in a bad shape" Fah cried as she hugs Zee

Zee then buried his face in his hands. His shoulders started crying too. Nerina was just rubbing his back. She dont know what else to say.

"Nunew is strong. We have to trust that he'll get through this."
Nerina said as she says prayers in her head.

After 4hrs, the surgeon finally came out. He has greeted them explained Nunew's situation.

"We have stopped the bleeding and has drained the clots out. He is safe now but we still have to keep an eye on him. He needs to stay in ICU until he wakes up"
The doctor said to them before walking back inside the operating room.

Zee fell down on his seat. He released the breath the he has been holding. Nerina hugged Fah in relief. They then sat beside Zee.

"He's okay Zee. He'll be okay" Fah told Zee.

Zee faced Fah.

"Maemae, im sorry. I should have insisted on going home with him. I should have been there." Zee cried to Fah as he hugs her.

Fah looked at Nerina and sighed.
She hugged Zee tight and rubbed his back.

"This is never your fault son. You didnt know that he would get into that accident, and im pretty sure Nunew would be upset if he learns that you got injured too. Dont blame yourself. You are never at fault in here"
Fah tells him

After another hour, the nurses in ICU finally let them in. Only two people are able to come in at a time. So Fah and Nerina came in first, Zee stayed outside.

Zee stared at the rainy sky as he waits. Its the same sky that he hates from when he was a kid. Its the same thunders that he heard when they were falling off the cliff. Its the same scared feeling that he has in his heart and the only difference is that its now him seeing Nunew in a hospital bed.

I hate thunders, and now i hate the rain too
Zee said to himself

Nerina and Fah came out of the ICU and Fah just looks exhausted.

"Ma, why dont you and Maemae go home? I will stay with Nu tonight"
Zee told them as the two walk towards him

"You should be resting too"
Nerina told him
