(534)How could we know that we are now inclined to Satva virtue?
It is said that you cannot hide the Sun in your basket. The rays of light would lighten up the universe. Just as we don't have to color eggs of peacocks, they would come out with multiple colored beautiful wings. Lord Shri Krishna says when a person feels emerging Satva virtue within his body, mind and activities through all the senses Gyanendriya and karmendriyas, he would feel crystal clear light and purity within him.
सर्वद्वारेषु देहेङस्मिन्प्रकाश उपजायते।
ज्ञानं यदा तदा विद्याद्विवृदधं सत्वमित्युत।।
He would be full of consciousness .As we have discussed a time when Rajas and Tamas are subside, Satva increases within a person and he feels cleanliness in his heart, purity in his thoughts and selflessness in his karma. He would be able to act according to the pure enlightenment which he has received from the universe .His Karma outwardly and his thoughts of mind inwardly deliver speech that would sooth the listeners. He would be able to know what is truth and what is untruth, what he should do and what he should not do ,what is the Marg of welfare ? He would know how to control his senses and do his worldly duties selflessly and without expecting any fruit of his deeds -Kama.
The only difference is all the other livings and a human body is that a human body can develop this Satva virtues within him and all the other bodies could not develop Satva within them. No animals or birds or any creatures can lift up his character by doing efforts to develop knowledge except Jatayu, Garudji, Gajendra ,Vasuki in our Stories of Ramayana Kal who were full of Satva virtues even in the bodies of animals and birds .
We know all livings persons are bound to have more or less of trio-virtues but there is a difference in enlightenment and knowledge in human beings. The enlightenment is related with awareness of and power of subconsciousness of mind, purity of heart and controls over own senses. It means that a person could be detached from the power of Rajas virtues which are seen in the forms of restlessness, greed and feeling no peace of mind in any karma. It again means that a person could be detached from laziness, idleness and sleep which are the characteristics of Tamas virtues . knowledge means awakening of consciousness A Sadhak should know difference between truth –untruth , essential duties to do and unnecessary kriya and karma that should be avoided. What is permanent ad what is temporary and what he should accept and learn from Prakruti and what he should avoid to be getting involved and abandoned them.
When a person understands that ब्रह्म ह देवेभ्यो विजिग्ये and Devatas were blessed but it is difficult to know Brahm and he should try to attain pure knowledge and Brahm restlessly with possible efforts. He should be free from pride and ego , he should be free from jealousy and envy,he should be detached from the worldly attractions that create bondage for him and with his acquired knowledge and enlightenment he should try to attain liberation.Generally when a person desires for leave सत्वाकामो यजेत् ब्रह्मा he would worship Brama. Our Shastra says when pure knowledge enlightens a person he understands that he is not a body of five elements but a part of Paramatma's DIVYANSH and he knows that he is not here on this earth to suffer from his sins and enjoy fruits of his good deeds only but to attain Salvation. His soul is not involved in his worldly activities.
न लिप्यते लोकदुःखेन बाह्यः (क.उ.२-२-१).His soul is free from the old age and death. So he should try to attain Paramatma through his pure and enlighten knowledge,do worldly karma without expecting anything in return and speak no evil about anything or anybody and turn to Bhakti of Paramatma as Paramatma Shri Krishna says Arjuna to surrender to him मामेकं शरणं व्रजः and Arjuna accept and begged him to accept him as pupil on the path of knowledge. शिष्यस्तेङहं शाधि माम् त्वां प्रपन्नम्।
To accept his mercy ,a Sadhak should behave like king Janak who had performed his duty as a king of Mithila without expecting anything in return and remain detached from Sansar inwardly. When a servant gave him news that Mithila -his state is on fire, he said when Mithila burns ,nothing is burnt inside me. A perishable thing has to perish sooner or later. A devotee Narsinh Mehta when received the news of his wife's death, he said ભલું થયું ભાંગી જંજાળ સુખે ભજીશુ શ્રી ગોપાળ now God has made me free from the web of Sansar and now onward I could concentrate on Paramatma better. When Mirabai received a glass of poison from her husband he accepts it as a Prasad of Paramatma without any complains to anybody. When Chaitanya Mahaprabhu recites Bhajans of Krishna, he forgets about worldly etiquette and dances on the market road. A devotee remains busy in Nam Jap, Bhajan Kirtan and meditation 24*7*365 days and nights.
Initially, a person desires heaven and does Yagna but when he knows that after reaching heaven through good deeds he could enjoy all the Bhoga till the fruits of his good Karma lasts. The moment his stock of good Karma exhausted, he has to come back to earth in different yonis and he would be back in the cycle of birth and death
तावत्प्रमोदते स्वर्गे यावत्पुण्यं समाप्यते।
क्षीण पुण्यः पतत्यर्वागनिच्छन्कालचालितः।।
A person could enjoy in heaven till the purse of money earned in his pocket, is full. Then on the expiry of his credit card, he falls down forcefully against his wish, even if he does not want to leave the heaven, being propelled by the time destined. Or if he is addicted to sinful activities ,he could not control his senses and if he would be full of Rajas and Tamas ,he would go to hell and again roams in cycle of birth in Tamsik bodies and pain of old age and death.
Hence he would try to find out solutions to escape from the bad karma and the fruits of bad deeds and he should know how to convert them in his good deeds .He would surrender to Paramatma and does his worldly kriya and karma and thinks that he is serving Paramatma following his duties as a servant follow his master's order and instructions. When servant does any kriya ,he is not responsible for gain or pain that would come out as a product of his karma So when Satva increases and a person knows that he should offer all his karma to Paramatma and does his worldly duties as servant being free from the fear of birth and death ,sin and no sins.
Trio virtues inspire a person to remain involved into various activities .These virtues direct the organs-parts of the bodies and Jivatma expects result of fruits of his actions but when a person understands that he is not a body but Atman –a part of Paramatma and Atman is inactive but as long as his instincts leads him to manifestation of the universe ,of the equilibrium of trio virtues and so long is the diversity feeling of AVIDHYA –ignorance of the soul prevails ,he would not attain Realization but when he attains the equilibrium of Gunas ,the proportion of trio virtues is disturbed ,he would know that the universe ,as he has seen or appears to him, through his senses is a delusion. It is nothing but Brahm within infinite variety of objects and all these are auxiliaries of karma. As time is the period of enjoyment. Soul seems as the enjoy-er. Temperaments results in transformation of Gods and others into various yonis. And good and bad fruits, giving heaven or hell are the unseen results of previously done karma following us in the forms of trio virtues.
काल आत्मागमो लोकः स्वभावो धर्म एव च।
इति मां बहुधा प्राहुर्गुणव्यतिकरे सति।।
Now let us understand what would be the result when Rajas and Tamas develop within a person from our great God and Jagat Guru Lord Shri Krishna...Om Tat Sat..Shri Krishnajpanmastu..
