Chapter 32: The Attack

*****Shad's POV*****

"Alpha, we're all set and ready for any attack. Alpha Malcolm and the rest of his pack are also settling into our guest house now. How did you know there would be an attack?" Beta Titus asked. "I'm just being careful. As of now we still don't know where that demon took Mika and I don't want an unexpected attack happening to our pack. It's good to be prepared." I said.
I didn't tell Titus what I dreamt last night. It seemed to be giving me a sign that there would be bad events that would occur in the pack. Yesterday, I spoke to one of the oldest elders in our pack to ask for help regarding vampires and how to deal with them. Luckily, she had known a witch from a far away pack. She asked for help and today came the ones we needed to destroy the vampires. 'Alpha! Intruder in the North Border.' Corey said in the pack link. 'Tell me the status?'
'We spot a group of vampires here. As of now the border guards are blocking them but they can't hold them much longer because of their numbers.' Corey answered.
'I'll be there. Call the others and inform Alpha Malcolm about what's happening. They should be ready and tell them to go straight to our pack house.'
'Yes Alpha.'
"Titus, make sure we have guards on the pack members. Even Alpha Malcolm and some of his pack members are here, we can't let them fight alone for our people."
"Yes Alpha, we're on it."
"Did you bring what the witch gave us?"
"I have already distributed it to all our members and luckily there's enough for Alpha Malcolm's pack too."
"Good. Let's move now. We need to get information on Mika's whereabouts. I need to save my mate."
"Yes, Alpha. We will do our best to find our Luna." Titus replied.
I could hardly believe what I saw when I got there. Almost half of my pack guarding the North Border were dead and the rest were seriously wounded. I looked at the opponents' side, spotting someone. He looked calm and different from the others. "Titus, help the others." Even though we had set a trap, almost one-fourth of the intruder was affected. The witch gave us potions to spread across the borders, it would help us keep track if there's a vampire in the pack. She also gave us instructions on how to kill them. Either burn them, or pull their heart out of their bodies.
"Finally! My rival of Mika's heart." The man I was looking at shouted. Right there I almost lost my temper. This guy was the one who took my mate and raped her. He smirked at me liked he saw what was on my mind. "Don't look as if you can kill me dog, your wolf tried but he never fully succeeded." My wolf growled inside of me. He was furious and it was hard for me to keep him tamed. "You demon! Where is Mika? Where did you take my mate?"
"She's also my mate and she enjoys staying with me. Don't expect her to come back to you because that won't happen. She's mine and we will build our kingdom and family together."
"You're crazy. Mika would never have a family with you. She loves me and only me. Maybe the God of Death hated us to do something like this but even so she will not accept you as her mate." I shouted.
"Really? That's not what I hear in bed every time we have sex. She enjoys fucking me, dog. And sooner or later, she will be pregnant with my child." He laughed evilly. I lost it. I moved towards him quickly to attack him. I needed him dead. He couldn't get out of here alive. When I would kill him, I would definitely find Mika.
We circled each other but he still remained calm even though he was facing me. It was as if he wasn't scared or worried at all with my presence. "If you think you can kill me, don't go on. I have lived in this world for a long time and I have won many battles. I will never allow myself to die at your hands again." The vampire said. "I'll do everything in my power to get you out of this world. Someone like you shouldn't exist. You're just made out of anger. The God of Death doesn't care about you."
"You may be right, but because of my existence he let go of his anger towards your beloved Moon Goddess. She should be the one you blame. They made you and Mika a werewolf because she didn't want to see her favorite creation disappear from this world."
"If you didn't kill Mika's wolf before, there would have been no trouble. You've been too arrogant and envious. Thats what brought us into this mess."
        He moved quickly, grabbing me by the neck. I fought him and kicked him in his side. I grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground, he quickly got up and kicked me in the chest. He threw me into the tree but I dealt with the pain and I ran towards him, grabbing his arm and kicking him in the face. We exchanged blows on different parts of our bodies until I remembered another potion given to me by the witch. He said I should use it when I was in close contact with the vampire. It would blind him for a period of time and it would give me an advantage to kill him.
        I threw the potion in his face and I saw his face burn because of it. I wasted no time and I grabbed him by his neck to try and remove it but his nails dug into my flesh. I had let go quickly and grabbed him by the neck once more to remove his heart when someone appeared next to me.
        A vampire hit my side and two more vampires came to rescue him. I fought them but because of their speed, he immediately disappeared from my sight. I grabbed the vampire and twisted his neck. It was still alive but I could use him later. I saw the other vampires retreating as I signaled my pack to not chase them. "Titus, we have so many casualties right now. Go get them our healer. Bring this guy to our interrogation room and don't let him escape. I need to get information from him." I said.
        "Yes, Alpha. By the way, Corey was wounded badly. I already sent him to the clinic during the fight. We lost a lot of fighters too. We need to plan another tactic. They seem to know our moves well and one of them was our member before."
"What? Who was it?"
"His name was Finnegan. He was one of our fighters that had gone missing for a few months. I don't know why he's with them but I think they got ideas from him." Titus explained.
"Let's talk later. Let us properly bury our pack members first and burn the vampires' bodies now."
"Yes Alpha." I looked towards the spot from which Landon had fled. Soon the two of us would meet again and when that happens. I'd make sure he dies.
