After a dangerous mission, Indy sustained many fatal injuries but was taken to the hospital before she sucumbed to them.
Now, she was in the hospital, high as hell on pain medication. König was with her, since he blamed himself for her injuries, and felt a need to be by her side. It was quiet, until she finally opened her mouth.
"If there's ten billion people on Earth and Elon Musk has 200 billion dollars," She spoke slowly, "can't he just give each person one billion?"
König looked up at her, very confused.
"And here's the twist, he will still have one hundred and ninety billion dollars left over."
His confusion grew with her every word.
"Isn't that concerning?" She finished and looked at him, he sighed in return. It was the most idiotic thing he had ever heard.
"You know? I think you wear that mask because you are really shy. Some soldiers wear it to hide scars, but I don't think that applies to you." Indy's high as hell brain thought that was an appropriate assessment of the 6'10, dangerous, and killer colonel currently by her side.
"Shy boy~" She coos, completely out of it.
König took a moment to process what she had just said. He thought about correcting her and explaining the real reason for his mask, but he ultimately decided against it.
"I'm not shy." He mumbled, his tone neutral even though he was amused(?) with what she thought. "I'm simply reserved and have no reason to talk if it's not necessary."
Her mind, too out of it for her own good, has already found another topic to focus on. "Hey, how come you are so big? I'm all short, and you're all tall. Did you steal my height?" She don't even sound angry, she sounds sad, like he just betrayed her.
Her sad tone amusing him simply because of the ridiculousness of the conversation, even going so far as to getting him to chuckle slightly. "I didn't steal anything. I simply won the genetic lottery. Though, to be fair being tall isn't all that great, being 6'10. I hit my head on every door frame." It appeared to be something that irritated him, his expression dropped into an annoyed one.
"Ouch." She says, rubbing her own forehead as if she's the one that has to deal with it banging against the doorframe. Her response got him relax even more, knowing there was nothing he could do but enjoy the antics.
"It does suck, but there's also a lot of advantages to it. People who walk into the room think I'm strong. I get all the women, too." It sounded like it was something he was more proud of, but he tried to be casual about it.
"Lies." She snorts, having no filter.
"You don't believe me?" He asked, raising an eyebrow at her. "You think that the tall man standing before you can't get girls? You'd be surprised how many girls throw themselves at me." König seemed a little arrogant, but there was a hint of truth to what he was saying. He conveniently left out the part where he doesn't give into the advances of other women.
"But you don't act. You don't like them and never make your own move because you're a shy boy~" A giggle leaves her as her altered state of mind goes back to calling him a shy boy. They've come full circle.
He crossed his arms as she giggled and made her comment, an obvious aura of irritation coming off of him.
"I'm not shy." He mumbled. "I simply don't have time or need for such things, I'm a soldier, we don't play around with such trivial things, like romance."
"Ace?" She asks, jumping from him just being reserved to him being ace.
The Colonel let out a frustrated grunt as she asked him that, clearly irritated by her calling him 'shy boy' and now 'ace'.
"No, I'm not ace. I simply lack time for such things, and my mission is my priority." Even without a clear look at his face, his tone clearly showed he was starting to get annoyed.
"Awww, man. I hope the Colonel isn't like that. Don't tell anyone, but I like him." She whisper as if she just didn't tell König himself.
He stared at her, face in shock behind the mask and processing what she said. "You do?" There was a hint of amusement in his voice, it was subtle, but he felt something when she said that.
"He's kinda grumpy at times, but that's OK. He works hard and has to deal with idiots. I'd be grumpy, too."
His expression changed slightly, there was a soft smile at her answer. Now he definitely needed her to keep talking. "I am a man with a lot of responsibilities, yes. I have to make sure everything's in order and lead missions. It's exhausting and it can be a lot at times."
She nods in agreement right as her brain decides to move to a different topic. The IV in Indy's arm catches her attention. She follows it up to the machine she's hooked up to. "They're stealing my blood?"
"They are not stealing your blood." He explains, he is also staring at the IV. "They are monitoring your health and they are injecting medicines into your veins to ensure your health." He points to one of the machines in the room. "And that one right there is monitoring your heartbeat."
Indy stares at the machine and holds her breath. Her heart rate elevates at the lack of oxygen and makes the machine beep.
He looked over when the machine beeped. "Don't do that." König's voice was stern. "You need to breath regularly. I know you are high, but you should not be doing things like that."
She stops holding her breath and pouts. It doesn't last long before she's yawning, the medicine making her sleepy.
He noticed how sleepy she was getting and decided it was best to cut the conversation. "You should probably try to get some sleep."
"Gotta stay awake." She grumbles. "Bad guys might get me again."
Completely illogical, but her mind is still in mission mode.
While it was funny to see her still trying to be a slodier, he didn't want her to worry when they were perfectly safe. "Nothing is gonna happen to you. You're here with me and this hospital is secure."
"Got my 6?" She asks drowsily, practically whispering.
He smiled at the question. "I've got your 6." He whispers back without another thought.
As she drifted off to sleep, he simply watched her. There wasn't much else he could do but hope for the best and keep a look out on her health.
Got your six....
The phrase made him feel a bit of guilt since it was kind of his fault she got hurt in the first place. Nobody would know, but from that day forward, he vowed to always have her six. And if he picked up on her little crush now that he was aware of it, well, he never did anything to dissuade her.
Oh, and he did keep his promise to always have her six. Going so far as to even include the phrase in his wedding vows.
