-Haha, yes!-
Knight screamed in excitement as he reached the forest on the outskirts of the hollyberry kingdom.
-You're a cheater!-
Pitaya came up behind him and hit him on the arm.
-Ahg, hahaha that's what losers say-
The blonde hit them back
-I don't underssstand how you run so fasst with such ssmall legs-
-I don't have wings so I have to run most of the time-
Knight started walking after catching his breath for a few seconds.

-Where are we going?-
Pitaya began to follow him
-Just for a walk, I thought you would like to see the forest in winter-
-Meh, it lookss the same but with a little bit of ssnow-
-The snow gives it a special touch, I like to see how the snowflakes fall-
Knight stopped before entering the trees to observe the landscape to which Pitaya imitated his action.
-I don't ssee what's sspecial-
-Well, it is calm and beautiful to see, I remember  one time princess wanted to go into the forest but I told her to stop and look at the snowflakes to see which fell the fastest, and we spent hours out here just watching the snow fall and talking about anything-
Knight commented, smiling when he remembered it.

-That's why I like to see the snow, it reminds me a lot of that day-
Knight turned to look at the dragon and it seemed focused on the snow.
-Haha, are you really going to look at the snow too? I didn't think you would be interested-
Pitaya interrupted him, covering his face with their hand.
-Ssshh, there iss something in the foresst-
The dragon said quietly
Knight paid more attention to the berry bushes behind the trees and sure enough, there was something moving the leaves on a bush.

Normally Knight wouldn't have worried so much, it was a forest and obviously there were going to be wild animals, but from the dragon's change of attitude it seemed that whatever was there was not good. Knight approached carefully but Pitaya stopped him and they approached without so much concern.
When the dragon was close enough, a small cake hound came out of the bush. It barked and shook itself, shaking off some leaves.

-A dog?-
Pitaya asked, stopping being so defensive.
-Oh, be careful, they are cute but they are aggressive-
Knight said approaching.
-Aww, it's so small, normally they are bigger and come in packs-
The blonde commented when he saw how small the cake hound was, if he hadn't seen it he probably would have stepped on it.
-So it'ss a puppy-
Pitaya added
-Yes, and it doesn't seem aggressive-
Knight was going to bend down to get a better look but Pitaya stopped him and pulled him by the arm so he wouldn't get close to the puppy.
-Motherss never let someone approach their babiess, and you ssay they never come alone, right?
Said the dragon turning around
-Right, it would be better to leave it, although I don't understand what is it doing here if they're not from this forest and much less from the kingdom-
Knight added, moving away from the puppy a little, the animal, on the contrary, wanted to get closer to both while waving its small tail rapidly.

-There is ssomething elsse in the foresst-
Pitaya said, wielding their sword. When Knight asked them to bring it with them, they didn't think they would use it with anything other than the blonde.
-I don't hear any-
-Ssshh-
Pitaya interrupted him again by putting their hand on his face.
-Stop doing that-
The blonde complained, removing their hand from his face.
-What's in the forest?-
Knight asked, but before Pitaya could answer, he finally heard what the dragon was talking about.
A pack of cake hounds came out of the forest with clear intentions of attacking them.

Knight reacted quickly and drew his sword but Pitaya reacted even faster, the dragon pulled Knight by the arm so that he was behind them and spat fire stopping the herd; Although they only managed to lightly burn one, they were able to completely stop the others.
The cake hound that was in front of the others managed to burn its fur a little, when it felt the fire it quickly put itself out with the help of the snow and returned the way it came, leaving the other cake hounds as a line of defense
-What the? There are too many to be just a herd-
Knight said watching the dogs stay still as if waiting for orders, it looked almost like an army line.
