1. I want control

May 18th 1985

I watched the clock tick waiting for the bell to ring. This is all I've waited for since school started.

Summer.

It was the one time when I didn't have to be stuck in the hood, don't get me wrong I love my hood but shit gets rough out here. I could just be with my grandparents in the Bel-Air.

Every year during summer me and my siblings go to my grandparents house to give my parents a break but this ain't no break for them, this is a break for me. My parents have been on my ass about every little thing you would think that with all them kids they got they'd leave me alone right?

WRONG.

This year it was just gonna be me and Isaac my older brother.

"Aye baby" I turned to see my boyfriend Tyrese walking my way. "Well hello Mr. Marsh" I smiled at him looking at the candy he brought for me at lunch. "My favorite cheerleader...hm these is yours you left them in my backpack..." he handed me the candy stealing some out the box "you walking home?"

"Uh no my dads coming home early so he's gonna drive is home im just waiting for Issac"

My dad was a coach here, it was cool except I couldn't get away with shit because he knew every damn teacher here.

He turned around to show Issac flirting with a girl I recognized. "Hes such a hoe"

"Shit he got game"

I looked back at my boyfriend in disgust

"He's a nasty whore"

I turned back around to see him walking towards us smiling.

"Wassup yall." He said dapping up Tyrese.

I rolled my eyes ignoring him and walking away from him. He is the most unbelievable person sometimes.

"Aye she was fine though you can't even be mad at me for that" he smiled looking at the paper with the girls number. "You know her?"

My dad looked at Isaac "what girl? You better not be acting out son, Im serious"

"Pops relax all I did was ask for shortys number Lauren you know her?"

"She's on the cheer squad but I don't know her like that...you know macking knowing you never seeing or talking to her again is stupid...but you not the smartest so never mind"

He reached to the backseat and hit my head "first of all Diamond if I wanna Mack imma Mack...how is that dumb"

"Because you're graduating and you know you tryna work on another album this year"

This year Isaac or Azi planned on making another album, he's a rapper. The first time he put out an album was in '83, he also kinda forced me to put out an album I called it Dream Street. It did pretty well not the best but it was okay.

We walked up to our door entering our house seeing our mom and sister on the couch laughing together "Hi mommy" I said "what y'all laughing at?" Isaac asked.

"None of your big headed business " Our eldest sister Danielle said. Isaac hit her on her arm while sitting next to her.

Dani pushed him "uh uh don't be touching me"

Momma rolled her eyes at her children and smiled at me "Hey honey and hi my babies yall ready to go?"

I sat on the chair "yes oh I'm so excited I have so much planned for this summer"
