After finishing his medication, Jake quietly made his way to Sunghoon's bedside. He leaned down and placed a tender kiss on Sunghoon's cheek, a gesture of affection and reassurance. With a soft smile, he watched Sunghoon sleep peacefully for a moment before turning to leave the room.
As Jake walked down the hospital corridor, lost in his thoughts, he was interrupted by Nurse Emily's voice. "Hey, Jake, where are you going?" she asked, her tone filled with concern.
"I'm just going to visit the chapel," Jake replied softly, his voice carrying a hint of resolve.
Nurse Emily nodded understandingly, giving him a gentle tap on the shoulder as he made his way towards the chapel. Pushing open the door, Jake stepped into the dimly lit room, feeling a sense of calm wash over him.
Taking a seat in one of the wooden pews, Jake closed his eyes and bowed his head in prayer. He poured out his heart to the Lord, seeking strength, guidance, and healing for both himself and Sunghoon.
"Lord, please... help me overcome this illness," Jake pleaded, his voice filled with emotion. "Grant me the strength to endure, and watch over Sunghoon as well. We both need your healing touch, your guidance, and your love."
With each word, Jake's prayers grew more fervent, his heart laid bare before the divine. "I want nothing more than to be with Sunghoon, to live freely by his side," he continued, his voice unwavering in its sincerity. "But if it's not your will for me to survive, then please, let Sunghoon live. He deserves a chance at happiness, even if it means sacrificing my own life."
A moment of silence followed as Jake gathered his thoughts, his eyes closed in quiet contemplation. "Please, Lord, if it's not me, let it be Sunghoon," he whispered, his words a solemn plea for divine intervention.
With a final "Amen," Jake opened his eyes, feeling a sense of peace settle over him. Though the road ahead was uncertain, he knew that with faith and determination, they would face whatever came their way, together.
Feeling a sense of peace wash over him, Jake remained in quiet contemplation for a few moments longer before rising from his knees. As he made his way out of the chapel, he felt a weight lift from his shoulders, as if his prayers had been heard and acknowledged.
As he walked back down the hallway towards their room, Jake's thoughts turned to Sunghoon. He couldn't bear the thought of losing him, couldn't fathom a future without his friend by his side. Determination welled up inside him, fueling his resolve to fight for both their lives with every ounce of strength he possessed.
When he returned to their room, he found Sunghoon awake and sitting up in bed, a faint smile gracing his lips. Jake's heart swelled with relief at the sight of him, grateful for another moment together.
"Hey," Sunghoon greeted softly as Jake entered the room.
"Hey," Jake replied, his voice tinged with emotion. He crossed the room to Sunghoon's bedside, taking a seat beside him. "How are you feeling?"
Sunghoon's smile widened slightly. "Better, now that you're back."
Jake's chest tightened with emotion at Sunghoon's words. He reached out to squeeze Sunghoon's hand gently, silently conveying his love and support.
Together, they faced the uncertainty of their future, united in their determination to overcome whatever challenges lay ahead. And as they sat side by side, drawing strength from each other's presence, Jake couldn't help but feel a glimmer of hope flicker in his heart. With Sunghoon by his side, he knew they could face anything that came their way.
