chapter fourteen | this was a mistake —————————————————————————
as caleb finished the song, he dipped juniper and lifted her back up, so that they were almost touching chests.
luke and reggie were brought back up from the dancers dipping them, and the clapped, looking towards the stage where they saw juniper and caleb, smiling at each other.
caleb took her hand, and then bowed, which made junie take a bow as well. reggie saw that the two of them were together, and felt a touch of jealousy tugging at his heart.
while caleb turned around to face the band, juniper took that as her que to poof back to luke and reggie, her appearing in between the two.
"oh. the haunting hour is upon us." caleb said, and junie turned around in panic, looking at the clock on the wall.
"twelve?!" she said, how was it 12 o'clock? it hadn't felt like they were there that long at all!
she looked over to luke and reggie, who were still dancing with the twins. she went to luke first, dragging him away from the one twin, and put her hands in his shoulders. "luke! snap out of it! look at the time, it's midnight!" she said to him, and luke finally snapped out of his daze and looked over at the clock in panic.
luke then instantly went over to reggie to snap him out of his daze, as he saw how hurt junie was. junie herself was looking for alex.
looking up, she saw alex sat in one of the hoops the dancers were using earlier. "alex! get your butt down here right now! we gotta go!" she shouted, loud enough that luke and reggie heard, and appeared by her side, all three of them looking up at alex.
"alex, we forgot..." reggie stared, but alex cut him off.
"julie, i know. this place is... one sec." he said as the hooped turned away from them. when he was facing them again, he carried on talking. "this place is some kind of time warp."
"poof down here, bro. we gotta get going!." luke said, and then the four of them ran towards the exit.
just as they got there, caleb poofed in front of them, blocking their exit.
"gentlemen, my darling, what's the rush? the party's just getting started, and you have an eternity, after all." caleb said to them, and reggie spoke up as luke was hurrying to put his jacket back on.
" you know that girl who can see us? we sort of bailed on her. see, there's this dance at her school tonight, and she's got this friend, flynn who's like a super cool dj, like-" reggie started making dj sounds, but alex quickly stopped him.
"okay, i don't think he has an eternity to hear the story."
