chapter eighteen | best dad ever!
———————————————————————

later that evening, the four ghosts were sat in the molina's living room, watching carlos use a 'ghost tracker' app on his ipad to try and catch the ghosts he knows are haunting the house.

"you can't hide forever, ghosties." he mumbles, walking around the room with his ipad in front of him. "gotcha!" he yelled when he thought he found a ghost, but it turned out to be his tía.

"for the last time, mijo. ghosts are not real." his aunt told him.

"typical adult." reggie scoffed, sitting on the arm of the armchair that he and juniper were sharing. juniper was sat on the other arm. luke and alex were sat on the couch, all three of them watching reggie. "do you remember when we were kids, and they never believed what we said?"

"yeah, i'm pretty sure that's just a you thing. i was always pretty trust worthy." alex gloated, and junie smiled at him.

"shouldn't we be more worried about julie?" luke asked. "her dad just busted her, okay? he's probably making her quit the band."

"well, there's not much we can do about that now, but... we can still help carlos." reggie said, as he looked over at carlos and tía, who were looking at carlos' ipad. "adults not believing children ends tonight. showtime." he smirked as he leant backwards slightly to turn off the lamp.

tía gasped, and carlos smirked. "ghosts aren't real, huh? how do you explain that?"

"light bulbs burn out all the time, carlos." tía said, and reggie disagreed.

"wrong answer, tía!" he said as he got up off the chair and went over to the blinds, opening and closing them. "explain... this!"

juniper just shook her head with a small smile and moved to sit on the actual chair- not just the arm- and sighed. luke and alex were similar to her- luke crossed his arms over his chest and sat fully back, and alex sighed too. all three of them looking at each other.

tía held carlos' shoulders as she gasped, and carlos spoke out, "maybe it's my mom. she knows i haven't been replacing the toilet paper!"

"your mama would never scare us. this is the work of a demon!" tía said, and reggie stopped moving the blinds.

"hey! words hurt." he pouted.

"wait! i gotta get it on video!" carlos said, and reggie pointed over at him with a smirk.

"yeah you do! time for an old classic!" he said as he put a sheet over his head-waving his arms about.

"juniper covered her face with her hands, mumbling an "oh my gosh," before looking back over at reggie.

tía was screaming, and carlos cursed out as he realised the ipad was in selfie mode. carlos' aunt then picked him up and ran out of the room.

when they had left, reggie laughed and put the sheet back in the laundry hamper. "whew!" he said as he squished himself down next to juniper, leaning his body over hers so that he could rest his elbow on the arm, and his leg over the other- he was basically lying on top of her, making her blush profusely. he just sighed in content, and looked over at alex and luke.
