Then at the time, the meaning behind her words was a mystery to me. The sound of the doorbell interrupted my profound thoughts, Samantha kept the bowl on the counter and looked at me.

"Can you please keep the plates on the table while I go get the door?" I nodded and we parted our ways. When I reached the dinner table Eric and Aiden were already slumping on the chair and I discovered Eric was silently laughing and Aiden's had a stoic exterior. They looked at me after sensing my presence.

" C'mon son, wipe that frown off your face or else Emerald will be knowing your most embarrassing moments." Eric declared, playfully.

"No fucking shit old man, you never going to tell her about it, do you get it?" Aiden warned him innocuously. Eric lifted his arm in surrender, however, a wicked gleam glazed over his eyes.

"Emerald, do you know Aiden was a crybaby!" As Eric said, a cognitive vision of Aiden crying around invaded my head and I couldn't help but chuckle. It was impossible to visualize him that way, but I was certain he would have been an adorable crybaby.

" He had a car, he named it 'fighter' and whenever it was misplaced, he would cry a lot, it's his objective to take his car wherever he goes, even while going for a poop."

Aiden glared at Eric for revealing his deep dark secret, while Eric had an amusement flickering in his eyes, I failed to stop my laughter, his grumpy face was more hilarious than the story. In between the laughter, I glanced at Aiden and mouthed 'Car boy' with a wink.

He snorted.

More fits of giggle escaped from my mouth at his grumpiness.

"Emerald, I can tell you more but it would be best if we are not in his presence," he pointed out at Aiden.

" Sure, I would love to hear," I said.

"Of course, you will." Aiden mumbled under his breath.

"Aiden doesn't be grouchy; I promise I won't laugh unless you have eaten your own poop." When I said that laughter bloomed in the air from Eric's direction.

Aiden stiffened.

"Aiden, why don't you tell her about it," Eric said, striving to keep a straight face which he was failing poorly. Realization struck me.

"Aiden, does that means you had eaten your poop?"

"Shut up! both of you shut the fuck up," Another set of laughter drew from our mouths, his aggravation simply proved I was indeed correct. Who would have thought, irritating Aiden would be so joyous?

We were in midst of laughing hard as I watched Samantha enter the kitchen with a very familiar-looking woman, Eric must have noticed the presence too because he instantly sobered and rose from his chair.

"Hello Sophia, it's a pleasure that you came here." Eric greeted me with a smile and she returned it with the same politeness. Like earlier when I saw her, she was well dressed and appeared fine and elegant.

As Aiden was back facing toward the entrance, he rose and spun around as Eric welcomed the guest. He cocked his head in the direction, where his mother stood.

" What the fuck is this woman doing here!?" His voice raised, his clenched fist, and suddenly he slammed his hands on the table. Fury glinted in his eyes.

A loud gasp was heard from Samantha, and with widened eyes, she gazed at Aiden. Once the room which was filled with laughter, joy, and full of spirit is now cold and gloomy.

"Aiden, I am standing right here, you are not going to talk about me this way," his mother, Sophia reprimanded.

"Fuck off," he said, then glared at Eric.
